This may or may not help in deciding between those 2, but this is what I run.
Upper base layers of Sitka Core and Traverse, rarely wear lowers due to heating up when I walk. For pants I wear either Sitka Ascent or Timberlines.
Outer layer consists of an older Cabela's Synergy outer, which is pretty similar to the Sitka Stratus. It has Gore Windstopper and Tex (MT50). It's a bib and jacket set and was Cabela's answer to the Stratus a long while back. It's basically my outer from 60 on down. I can get to the 40's with no mid layers.
Mid layers consist of Kuiu down pants and a 100g primaloft jacket or Mountain Hardware 600g down jacket when it gets really cold.
Often I'll throw a vest on as well.
What I wear just depends on the temps. Often the down layers are in my pack so I can add if needed.
I like the versatility of a shell outer and not a fully insulated outer like the Fanatic. It allows me to run a much wider temp range with the few pieces I have. It might be a little heavier in the end, but it isn't that much of an issue for me. Honestly, if I could have bought the Stratus a few years back (when it was bibs), I would have, but the Cabela's set hasn't worn out it's welcome enough to let it go.
