New resident to Oregon, and have also never hunted a turkey. Thinking about getting the Sports pak which includes a tag for the spring bird, and seeking some advice
First question is about hunting them on my own property. We live on a private road and everyone has several acres of land, over 12 personally and mostly wooded on a steep hillside. We have some resident turkeys that have been roaming around our "neighborhood" since we moved here in September, they roost directly across the street from our house and routinely pass through our yard. What is the consensus on taking one from the crop? Sure would make filling that tag easier, but I also have a twinge of reservation about the idea from an ethical standpoint, but also being new to the neighborhood I don't want to be "that guy". Also a little unsure of the legality of shooting in this area, and how to research if it is permitted.
Secondly, and as a piggyback - if not hunting here, how do I locate and hunt these birds on public land? Where to scout, what to look for, patterns, etc.
