First time suppressor buyer - best buying experience?

I used a local Silencer Shop dealer with a kiosk. The staff there walked me through it and it was easy. Did it all in store, including finger prints. So as long as they carry the can you want, it’s tough to beat for ease.
I bought direct from Silencer Shoo and had it transferred to a dealer with their kiosk. I guess Silencer Shop pays the dealer a commission because the dealer didn’t charge me anything. It was very painless and quick.

I like Capitol Armory. They make it pretty easy. It still adds time for them to do all the notifications and ship vs buying local though so if somewhere has it local, that is a good option. Scheels seems like a nice box store option but i'm honestly not sure two 90 minute round trips to buy and pick up for me is worth saving a month in time vs capitol.

This was my method as well. I feel like the submission process may have been a hair slower than some of these other options. If minutes matter to you, maybe go with someone direct. However, the Kiosk was fairly painless.

I went with silencer shop purely due to the single shot trust. My form 4 got denied due to an atf error, got resubmitted in a week and approved a day after. Had to send some emails and stuff but overall I’d go with the trust and ss again

I’ve bought multiple from SC and SS. SC was good. Little bit of a wait because of USPS. If you expect Amazon type delivery then you’ll be sad. But they get the stuff to your door. Just longer wait due to mail then your local dealer.

SS. Good service. If your local shop has cans you want in stock it’s easy and quick. If you buy off their site and they are in stock you can expect about 2 weeks before your certify. This is due to a Form 3 that has to clear and then They ship it to your dealer. Ive like them this far.

Just bought one from Capitol Armoury yesterday. Their process feels like SC and I’m sure will be great. They had a polonium 30 in stock and I jumped on it.

Short answer. Buy local if you can. If not any major dealer in the US will get you your suppressors with out much difficulty.

If you have a relationship with your Local FFL, ask them, they may already have a relationship with Silencer Shop.

Having said that. When I was shopping for my first (and currently only) suppressor, I was on a budget adn I found Silencer Shop's budget offerings to be incomplete.

I eventually decided I wanted a Witt Machine Mod 1 in 9mm, but because none of the local FFLs stocked it, transfer fees ran the price up. The Local FFL I used steered me to a close out deal on a Griffin Sportsman 36, that fit my needs for hundreds less than any other option I found. Granted, unlike the Witt, the Griffin isn't rated for full auto fire, but my use case is for bolt guns so that doesn't impact me.

What suppressor are you looking at? What is your use case?

I tried to buy from my local guy, went in with a list of 8 suppressors I'd be happy with and a budget, he recommended something over budget, and couldn't tell me if or when he could get any of the ones I wanted. (He did this a week before on a tikka I was trying to order)

Ended up going with silencer shop, almost used silencer central as they had a bogo where I could have gotten a 22 can for the cost of a stamp, but their reputation scared me off.
Silencershop was stupid easy, make me wish I would have done this a year ago. When I went to use the kiosk, I also found the exact tikka I was looking for on the shelf, so win win!

I’ve seen some wholesale pricing and availability on a few suppressors. What I saw looked like there is room for a fair mark up, more so than firearms. I’m surprised that your local dealer wasn’t more accommodating.

The last three I have ordered have been through the silencer shop and it’s been the most easiest and pain free method so far.
