Story time:

I picked up my first dedicated 22lr can on Tuesday (a B&T TiGer 22 from @EuroOptic), along with a threaded Ruger Mark IV. Yesterday I took my boy out to some public land to do a bit of plinking with it. Mostly out of curiosity, I brought my bird dog with to see how he'd respond. Mind you, he is a balls-to-the-wall field bred English Cocker Spaniel; any gunshot within his hearing (read anywhere within a mile or so in our valley) will Instantly have him tearing up the ground looking for the downed bird (ok, so he's not steady to flush and shot...).

First shot yesterday. Zero reaction from him. Hmmm. That's interesting! Continue to run through the first mag...maybe a couple glances. He just kept puttering around behind me. The only time we got any response out of him was when he saw & heard a bullet splash down 10 yards in front of us.

I am really amazed at just how quiet this is. My big takeaway; this setup is very likely going to accompany me on fall archery hunts for the occasional grouse or varmint duty. It's nearly as quiet as my bow and a lot more economical than trashing arrows.

It is fun, isn't it!
If you have your own area to shoot, get some AR500 targets (1/8" is best for 22lr only, otherwise get 3/8" if you're going to be shooting handguns and rifles at it at 100 yards+).

I have a small range at my cabin with 20 some steel targets (I get a few new ones each year) and every weekend I am out there shooting. 90% of the time it's a suppressed 22.

I happen to have the same B&T Print-X Tiger can as you as well. You're spoiled it's one of the best out right now IMO. It's actually rated for slow fire 223 as well. You can clean it by soaking in CLR (only stainless and titanium cans are OK to use with CLR, NOT ALUMINUM).

Get a cz 457, you can get lots of different configurations. I would recommend a scout to start for your son. Small stock 16" threaded barrel with iron sights. You can find plenty of used stocks and barrels people sell online and change them out to full size. You can get a .22 mag or .17 hmr barrel and loosen 2 screws then change the caliber for hunting as well. It keeps the zero to within a few inches so doesn't take long to re-zero.

Yeah shooting steel is a blast! I do have a 3/8 ar500 plate that I set up at my normal range; just can't get in there this time of year. I did order some Breakthrough cleaner that I'll give a try. Expensive, but it's supposed to work really well.

An yes, I do expect this can to spend a fair bit of time on my .223 Howa Mini that's getting cut down to 16" as we speak. Should be under 6lbs all in ready to hunt.

Have a bone stock 10/22 and a Glock 44 .22 cal that I have a can on the way for.
Looking for a economical way to make my 10/22 look cool and shoot well. I spend way too much on bolt guns.
Ideas on stocks/chassis, threaded barrels, and where to buy them without long wait times?
Appreciate any ideas and suggestions.
Jim

Suppressed .22s are just the best. I have shot from inside our house at pests in the garden and my girlfriend in the next room couldn't hear the shots at all. I can understand why some people wouldn't want to lug around a suppressor for their centerfire rifle, but everyone should have a rimfire can.
