Story time:

I picked up my first dedicated 22lr can on Tuesday (a B&T TiGer 22 from @EuroOptic), along with a threaded Ruger Mark IV. Yesterday I took my boy out to some public land to do a bit of plinking with it. Mostly out of curiosity, I brought my bird dog with to see how he'd respond. Mind you, he is a balls-to-the-wall field bred English Cocker Spaniel; any gunshot within his hearing (read anywhere within a mile or so in our valley) will Instantly have him tearing up the ground looking for the downed bird (ok, so he's not steady to flush and shot...).

First shot yesterday. Zero reaction from him. Hmmm. That's interesting! Continue to run through the first mag...maybe a couple glances. He just kept puttering around behind me. The only time we got any response out of him was when he saw & heard a bullet splash down 10 yards in front of us.

I am really amazed at just how quiet this is. My big takeaway; this setup is very likely going to accompany me on fall archery hunts for the occasional grouse or varmint duty. It's nearly as quiet as my bow and a lot more economical than trashing arrows.
