Any advice for this combo would be great. Especially when it comes to jump and powders you’ve had success with. I’ll be starting with samples of a few powders I already have… IMR 4350, superformance, and h4350.

Direct from Hornady, this is what they say to duplicate their factory ammo. This used to be on all their 140 Amax boxes. Per a conversation I had with them, it’s the same data for the 140 ELDM and 143 ELDX.

Don’t overthink it, jump and seating depth and ladder tests are all largely overblown BS. Put 41-41.5 grains of H4350 in a case with a large rifle primer (I use Remington 9.5 magnum primers even) and seat the bullet so the boattail junction sits right at the neck shoulder junction in the case and shoot it. Load up 10 rounds and shoot a group, I’d be absolutely shocked if it doesn’t shoot well.

Thank you for the information. I like straight forward loading. I’m not trying to waste an lb of powder to find some mystical mode that only works with three shot groups.

I’ll definitely try some loaded like this. Just to clarify I seat it to a depth where the start of the boat tail taper seats even with the shoulder/neck junction. So the small portion of bullet that tapers to the end will actually be sitting below the shoulder neck junction.

Again I appreciate your time.

Yessir, that is correct. No clue what the COAL is, but I know my CBTO measurement ends up at 2.188 when I seat to that depth FWIW.

I have also used Staball 6.5 and often load the cartridge to maximum magazine length.

Every gun I've loaded the 143 eldx and H4350 loves to be at the higher end of max. Groups have always been the best for me.

My go to load for every 6.5 I've had is 41.7 grains of H4350, COAL of 2.800 I have also loaded up to 42.0 grains and it shot ok. This load is over max so proceed with caution and at your own risk. ( I believe listed max from Hornady is 41.5)

41.7 grains was giving me 2758 FPS average out of my last gun. (24 inch barrel)
