About a month back I tried on a pair of catalyst side by side with catalyst foundry pants (but did not keep either, for different reasons).
I much preferred the newer suspender style on the foundry. The clips on the original are a little bulky in comparison to the lower profile flat hooks on the newer style. I also like the newer attachment locations (more out of the way of my pack hip belt) and fit better. This was just trying them on, not actually hiking around with them on.
The new system is much improved. You can disconnect your pants easily if nature calls and your suspenders are under layers. Nice to not have to fiddle with those old style clips and/or peel layers to pull the suspenders down. I also didn’t like how the old style had a juncture that sat in the middle of your back and would often rub a sore spot on my spine
