Took advantage of their huge sale to get a few items and had the chance to wear them a bit today.

What I bought :

Ragnar pant
Hoplite LS top
Kiska Beanie
Krypton gloves
Ball cap
Hi vis ball cap
Hi vis vest.

I was out in the woods today for a short walk and finished off with some archery practice at home.

Weather: low 40s and raining

I wore the pants, beanie, gloves, and top.
This is not at all a serious test, which will come later, but just some first impressions... Maybe it's just me, but aside from Robby Dennings review, I don't see much in the way of current info on here for kryptek... Seems like many are sticking with kuiu, FL, Sitka. Since I have never owned any of them other than some FL accessories (which unfortunately I didn't like) I figured what the hell, I will try kryptek.

Pants: very comfortable! Of course this was not high exertion work and I wasn't out very long (3 hours), they were very comfortable to move in, I want to wear them everywhere. I purchased these expecting them to be for summer, early fall use only, expecting to freeze today in them
It felt like I was on the lower end of their comfort range temp wise, but I was not cold. I also was not warm, but felt "regulated" if that makes sense. Granted, this was one of the first days in awhile we have not had severe wind, so maybe that would chill them down a bit, as they felt quite breathable.

The cut is comfortable, stretchy, very easy to move in.

However, I wore rubber boots today as my dangers suck and I wasn't going hard core at all. The point with this, is that the bottoms of these pants are quite wide for my taste, and not adjustable. This must be remedied, as I get out more into serious hiking.

Top: wore it as a baselayer with a fleece on top. With just this baselayer and the fleece, my upper body was perfectly comfortable. Looking forward to seeing how it feels in the heat next summer.

Kiska beanie: wow, it's perfect! Seriously, it fits snug, not too tight, the inner fleece liner is comfy and this thing breathed well. The fit and feel are waaaaaaayyy better for me than the last beanie I tried. Unsure as to why this beanie gets no love on here...

Krypton gloves:
Perfect for today. Not a super cold weather glove, but in the rain my hands were dry and warm. They allow excellent dexterity and do not interfere whatsoever with my release. Highly satisfied would sum up my initial thoughts on these gloves. Feels like in cold temps they would be great inside large insulated mittens and then still be warm enough for short duration tasks where dexterity is required and the mittens come off. Much more comfortable and practical than my other liners. In temps like today and warmer, they should work great as stand alone gloves.

I will be using this gear more come spring and summer and for my planned (first!!) bowhunt next fall...more thoughts/reviews to come later, but seems comfy and am hopeful for this gear in mild to warm conditions.

Thanks Sverimerica. It really helps when members post up their experiences as there's just no way we can test everything out there. I haven't tried their beanie and sounds like I should based on your experience.

I like their stuff but of course they're a RS sponsor so I really like to hear what everyone else says.

Definitely keep us posted as you use this stuff more, the good, bad, ugly.

I second your motion for Kryptek to redesign their pant legs below the knee to be not as wide. I love my Ragnar pants unless I'm walking through any kind of underbrush, corn and milo stalks, etc, as they tend to want to catch on everything.

Sounds like a decent pair of gaiters is in order for the both of us. Have never used them....going on 7 years with a pair of 16" danners and I usually tuck my pants in and just deal with the annoyance of water, and twigs/brush getting stuck on the boots. It's getting quite old though.

I have the Ragnar Pant, hoplite base top and Valhalla shirt. Wore them last week with first lite chama qz between the hoplite and Valhalla and Kuiu 145 zip off bottoms. Covered with koldo rain gear. Weather was 40 and raining. Looking for elk in December is at fun here but the koldo kept me dry and didn't get overheated after a few short hikes through timber and searching Clearcuts. In the afternoon I removed the koldo set after it stopped raining. Saw some elk and proceeded to stalk with in shooting range of 32 yards but a calf stepped in front of the cow I was after. I am impressed with how quiet these clothes are, just as you observed, and freedom of movement is very good. Wore them again yesterday but the weather was cooler at 34 and snow on ground with rain and sleet intermittent with occasional sun breaks. I removed the koldo set during a sun break, took a walk down a long ridge and noticed rain coming from the south. Got rained on before getting back to truck and felt cold for a couple hours until I realized the Valhalla had soaked up a bit of water. Removed it and put on a jacket (kuiu chinook) and was warm again. I was wearing kuiu 125 base with a 210 qz this day under the Valhalla. Have no issues with the pants since I wear kuiu gators. I'm sure this year week be great in early season September. Used the koldo set quite a bit this month so far and really impressed with it.

Glad to hear you're liking the Koldo rain jacket as I just bought one during their Black Friday sales event!

I own a few Kryptek pieces that pair nicely with my mostly First Lite setup. I prefer the Krypton gloves over just about any glove I've ever tried except they start stinking pretty bad after minimal use. For comfort and fit they nailed it, but the stink has me wearing the First Lite Aerowool liners a bit more. If the material was a merino blend I think this would be the best glove out there. I found the Kryptek Aquillo for dirt cheap last year and it's been a fantastic puffy for me. The fit of the hood really works well on that piece. Not super durable but the DWR is really good on it, a mistake on my part led to some good if unintentional testing of that.

I just got the Sherpa Hoodie in their Inferno pattern for this year's rifle hunt and I really like that piece as well. Again, the fit of the hood is great. I did get a little pilling on it but I've experienced that with about any similar piece I've worn a pack over for a full hunt. It's still in pretty good shape and should last me several more rifle seasons.

My experience with Kryptek gear has been positive up to this point. I love their Highlander camo pattern and will likely get a few more pieces in the future. Thanks for posting this up.

I love Kryptek rain gear. I wear my Koldo like a regular jacket anytime I think rain is coming. The poseidon jacket and pants come with me on the high mountain hunt.

The highlander camo pattern is my favorite and yes Kryptek stuff does pair well with First Lite layers.

im a huge kryptek fan. which i havent tried any other high end stuff, but kryptek is good enough for me that i dont think i need to look elsewhere. the ragnar pants were incredible for archery, they breath better than any other clothing ive ever worn. that paired with the valhalla long sleeve. i like the krypton gloves as well but they start to fray pretty quick, and good luck getting them to actually be touch screen compatible. its like they work for 5 seconds and then quit which pissed me off more times than i could count when trying to use the Gaia gps app. i still love them though.

The krypton gloves were a disappointment and only lasted about 3 days and started fraying. Gonna try the kryptek rogue soft shells this year as they are said to be waterproof. We shall see.

I love the Valhalla pants for warm weather. I have the older Alaios pants with the suspenders and knee pads. Finally wore them last fall. Loved the pockets and durability. They are on the warm side if you are moving around a lot. I probably like them better than my Kuiu attack pants with the exception of no thigh vents.
