Well, 2025 was very different to what i am normally used to but its been a good challenge!
I guess this could be a follow on from my first post on here hunting Chamois in New Zealand in March 2025. https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/new-zealand-tahr-chamois-hunt-diy.407203/
I mentioned the possibility of moving over to the US from Australia some time in 2025. Long story short, we sold practically everything we own and left with just a suitcase each. We arrived in Colorado at the start of August which didnt leave much time to buy and get all my gear ready again before September. Within the month we relocated to NE Wyoming where we are now living.
I didnt have enough points to draw Wyoming elk but i did have a Mt archery permit in my hand.
I hunted solo for about 20 days during the archery season in areas i had only ever looked at on maps from the other side of the world.
A boatload of pins dropped on OnX to check out from my Escouting.
I was stoked to see elk in almost all areas that i had E scouted and seen some great bulls in that time with a couple of close calls and also a few opportunities that I passed on in hopes of getting a crack at the big bull i had been seeing in the area.

Struggled with people pressure until i decided to go in a very long way and only then i finally had some ground to hunt without people all over! Surprise, found where all the cows had ended up, with a whole bunch of bulls!
Whilst I came home from that trip empty handed, i had seen some amazing animals and some boots on the ground experience leaving me with more drive for next season!
Later in the season i decided i would spend a few days trying to get onto a deer, a few day trips turning up alot of small deer i finally found a buck that i was happy to hang my tag on, not a big buck by any means but it was the result of a whole lot of days out in the field in all new areas looking at new species. With 3 days left of season I got this buck. A 300yd shot from my Tikka 7prc made short work of him.

With all the seasons coming to a close its time to start focusing on the next adventures, this time in Wyoming.
Looking forward to the Spring bear and turkey season coming up. So if youre a keen archer and would like to head out for a hunt this spring then hit me up! Planning a week arhcery bear hunting and then a week rifle hunting later in the season.
Dont get me started on the Elk, Deer and Antelope season we all look forward to!
