I was talked out of 22 for that exact reason. I’d like something I can bring anywhere I travel to and have something to be effective with (and legal).

i can hunt with the 22 in my state which is why i want one. ive got a little boy and 3 weeks out from another so having something like a 22cm that they can start to shoot at a younger age would be pretty sweet. though i dont know that there will be any tags at all once they are old enough to apply. but thats another story for another thread.

I think you'll be very happy with the 6cm. youll find more factory offerings in it and a wider variety of bullet weights to choose from as well as bullets in general.

But, as far as tags go - I agree. I’m sure this will get me chewed out, but, I really enjoy and agree with Matt Rinella and most of his Hunt Quietly position. It’s really a shame that the industry is devouring itself.

It’s so great to have these little guys. They are in for one big adventure and I’m sure they’ll love it all as much as we do.

And definitely. I think I’m going to go with the XLR atom chassis. Will get it together eventually but I’ll post updates as we go.

I’m suspect of that action with a prefit. Buy a barrel blank and have a smith cut the chamber the traditional way.

Just snagged a short action model 307 for a great price and couldn’t pass it up. I’ve built plenty of ARs but wanted to build something new for myself.

Looking for advice. What to do/ not to do.

My preference is a 22 Creed or 6 Creed. I’m planning to hunt with this build. Factory loads.

Anyone have any recommendations for barrel length/ twist? I will not be running a suppressor. I’m not preferential to carbon wrapped or steel.

Lastly (at least for now), what prefits would work with this action? I looked around briefly here but didn’t find much.

I’d look into the remage barrels if you want to do it yourself. Criterion makes some really good barrels you can get whatever length and contour you want.

just a heads up, i snagged a 307 for my wife and got a R700 pic rail for the top.. they do not fit. i ended up getting the peak44 rail they make for the 307 to not deal with another issue.

so yes they are a 700 clone, but not in every aspect of the action.

Yes, you should be looking at 700 action compatible. Essentially, the bottom side of the 307 action is similar to a R700 in terms of dimensions, bottom metals, and triggers. However the top side, as has been noted is profiled differently.

Perfect. Just ordered up my chassis. I have another rifle with the XLR Element folder so this time went with the Atom and folding stock. I really like sliding the rifle into the meat shelf on my pack so it was between the MDT and XLR.

I do like those. I wish they had a folder option. Unless that can be done with some aftermarket stuff that you know of?

that im not sure. at one point i was looking into a folder but stopped. i didnt check to see if the thread patterns would match up with an AR folding stock adapter. and beyond that, i think you might run into LOP issues with added the hinge in there. hopefully in the future they offer a shorter stock with a folding hinge built in!

XLR is king though, but my wife would probably literally chop my nads off if i bought one haha. the Ultradyne kinda just showed up one day and we didnt need to talk about it haha.
