First 22lr Can for 10/22 Carbon

I'm on the hunt for a rimfire can too, so thanks for all the info in this thread.

I have no first hand knowledge but I was listening to the CEO of Banish talking about soaking theirs in a 50/50 mix of water and CLR to break up the carbon. He was saying that one positive about using that mixture was that it is non-flammable so if you don't get it all out, it won't possibly explode in the can. Something I hadn't thought about happening.

I use the Dead Air Mask on my Ruger MKIV pistol and it works very well. It is a little heavy but the steel baffles made cleaning easy. I just pull the baffles and wet tumble them for an hour or two until the carbon is gone. It is a lot easier than using a chemical dip.

I would recommend you find a 22 can also rated for 5.7x28 in case you want that option, so AB Little Bird, Dead Air Mask, and a bunch of others. But definitely double check before buying.

I'm considering the Otter Creek Ti can to dedicate to a 10/22 squirrel rifle. Any reason it wouldn't excel at this role? I only ask because it seems to be marketed more for pistols, but I assume that's only because of the lightweight nature of titanium.

Anybody have any accuracy or other issues with these on rifles?

We have 2 different 22 rim cans coming out in a few weeks here @ Unknown Suppressors. They’re going to be 3D printed titanium 1 piece. Haven’t had any issues running 223/556 through them either. Very tough.

It will be great for that.

I picked up a Rugged Mustang. I have no intention of an HMR being added to the stable, so this one is all I need. Part of why I grabbed this as it can be taken apart and cleaned. I'm not totally sold on the drop it in solution deal for cleaning. Still haven't shot the thing yet though to see how it is. I bought several different boxes of sub ammo to see what works best as far as suppression, cycling, and fouling.

I have a Dead Air Mask for mine. It’s a fun little gun. Still looking for the right hollow point Subs for mine that cycle consistently. Was disappointed in 50 yard accuracy of the Norma ones I run through my Mark Iv.

Awesome set up! I put a droptine on mine as well. Great little scope... especially for the price. Now I'm just waiting for the b&t to come in through euro optic.

Those $200 Lyman cans are mighty appealing as well.

I took a good look at the Mustang. Seems like a great setup. The adjustably could be nice.

I'm a bit nervous about the non serviceable can, but planning to get an ultrasonic cleaner to go with it. We'll see!

Is that the magpul bipod? How do you like it?

I’ve got two rimfire cans I’ve had for 4+ years. One is a Rugged Occulus and the other is the Warlock from Silencerco. I can tell you between the two, the Warlock is favorite. Neither one is noticeable quieter than the other, but what you will notice is weight. I see/read lots of people say weight doesn’t matter when the host is a rifle….i strongly disagree. I want the lightest can if I get to pick for several reasons. One of the reasons is overall weight. Sure I shoot from a bench quite often with my timbres, but I hunt small game just as much. I like carrying as little weight as I can up and down the hills and hollers of Tennessee. Another reason I like a lightweight can is the weight hanging off of the end of the barrel. I’ve threaded barrels, that weren’t intended to be thread, sporter, targets, etc. I can get away with this with a lighter can. I was told years ago to never start shooting suppressed, because eventually I would only want to shoot suppressed.

I looked at some of the higher end options and couldn’t bring myself to do it. Time will tell on the Burris but happy so far. Shooting these things suppressed is more fun than I thought.
