Anybody ever flown from US into EU member state with a firearm? If so , how did it go? And did you change from major airline to regional jet once in Europe?

I spoke with travel agent who will handle all the paperwork. His quote was pretty steep. Thinking I may just borrow guide gun. Croatia is my final destination. Btw.

first what is the EU state you are entering and how many are you crossing? what your outfitter in Croatia is recommending related to paper to get your firearms in Croatia?

some european internal airline companies do not allow anymore hunting rifles or shotguns.

good luck wiht your hunting.

Delta had me landing in Paris or Amsterdam and then into Croatia. Outfit I booked through (not guide) recommended a third party to handle firearms. I received a quote from them and my $1,300 plane ticket on preferred airline went to $3,200 on non preferred airline with non refund ticket and economy seats. I have asked guide what they recommend…waiting on response.

I’d rather apply that $2k to a second animal.

Sounds like might be using guide gun. Having flown US domestic a dozen times with guns, the Whole thing is quite silly IMO. But their rules not mine.

Talked to another guy who helps with paperwork. He says Delta / KLM through Paris (incoming) and Amsterdam (departing) 100% not a problem and that route through him would only cost an extra $300. He comes highly recommended on some other hunting forums. Might have a winner!

check in that case with the french authority and Nederlands ones (amsterdam can be tricky with firearms) you will need ahead of time written approval for your hunt (invitation letter) approvals from french and dutch authorities as well and the croat one (what i posted but get confirmation as croats (like ex eastern block countries)) can be in love with paper lol ...

but it is worth to avoid the hassle and using guide gun in my opinion and i held european union firearm passport but no longer ...

Out of personal curiosity what animals are you going after in Croatia? I am going there for 10 days in April and would love to sneak a hunt in.

10-4. You in a bit of agreement with me, then. Kinda odd that recommend EU fellow (from hunt booking folks) doesn’t recommend delta / klm, yet guy I found (super recommended but bread and butter is Africa), says delta be fine.

I have what I assume is a legit “invitation letter.” It’s a .pdf with itenerary, lots of logistical info, etc.

Maybe you right about just going guide gun. Just feels odd. Would hate to miss / wound and second guess rest of life. With my gun shot placement be all on me, right or wrong.
