Day 4 now. One week left. Supposed to rain until we leave but oh well. Have 2 fishing trips on Friday and Monday. Denali/McKinley showed its presence today when leaving Healy after hiding in yesterday's storm. Seward now and heading to Homer on Sunday. This is truly a magnificent place. The type of place that will make you question going home, even when home is Colorado. Not sure I'd like the winters though. We've vowed to come spend a while here when I retire....in 15 years 😁

Had a group of guys on our flight here coming to chase caribou. It is on our list too. Hopefully before I turn 50 which gives us 7 years. My wife would be all in on that trip too. Just git to save some cash up.

2nd and last fishing trip of the vacation. Hit the Kenai river Friday and went out of Homer today. My wife took largest fish for the boat. I scored on a legal Ling cod. Got our rock cod and halibut limits. It was a blast.

Alaska isn't good for the reasons that people think it is. It is good for fishing, the hunting has variety but mostly sucks.

The real answer is the Yukon and NWT.

Yellow Knife as a town kind of sucks. Whitehorse is awesome.

But how do I move up there. The Canooks won't let me retire up there.

Back home. The trip we had planned for so long ended with ups and downs. The scenery is outstanding, fishing is great. My wife ended up catching covid after avoiding it since the beginning. She wasn't feeling well when we left but tested negative three times. That changed a few days in. Put a slight hamper on parts of the beginning of the trip but overall we were able to do everything we planned. Then my dog passed away my 2nd to last day there. She was 13 and having a few issues but went downhill fast. Heartbroken we were not here to comfort her but my son was able to make it home to be with her. We got her when he was 9 and they had a special bond. She took her lasts breaths laying in her favorite spot with him beside her. I've been blessed with some amazing dogs but she was the best. Listened well, loved to cuddle, protective of her pack. It is weird having an empty house now and I've yet to be able to pour the food out of her bowl. First time in 20 years we've been without a dog or three in the house. RIP Bess Bess (Jessie).
