Fenn's Treasure

This is a fun one to follow. I'm always skeptical of things like this, but if I was the person that "found" the treasure I sure would keep it anonymous.

I can understand wanting to remain anonymous........but last night on the news Fenn said the guy also doesn't want anyone to know where he found it either. IMO that throws a little more skepticism into the whole thing. If the guy didn't want anyone to know who he was.......then why even bother telling Fenn that he found it? Just take it and move on.

The only way this will ever be credible is if the guy reveals where it was found and how he used the poem to get there. There's quite a community that's developed around all of this, I would think that this would be the opportunity to prove that they haven't been scammed and validate the time people spent on it. If it gets left at "trust me, someone found it" the riots in Minneapolis might look tame.
I bought the original book on ebay out of curiosity, I didn't think it was that well written and the entire thing leaves me with " pretty unlikely its real" but its interesting. From my brief interest in it I decided its in one of his favorite fishing spots, probably in the vicinity of yellowstone, Hebgen Lake, Quake Lake etc due to the time he spent in the area as a kid. He referenced a US forest service quadrangle map somewhere in there, my thought was to get a hold of that (from the proper time period) and a fly fishing book he referenced and compare the old map to current google earth to see what river courses had changed. But after the initial $50 I couldn't see dropping the next $100 into it plus the other book, lol. I think its a scam, but I hope I'm proven wrong.

The pictures show Fenn going through it all supposedly "after" it was found, and he's even wearing a bracelet supposedly from the chest. Why on earth would he be going through it "after it was found"? It's all still pretty fishy. The guy was from "back East" but doesn't want anyone to know where he found it??? That's odd.

To not reveal the location where it was found would be such a poor ending to this thing. So many people want to know.

Not sure i was ever convinced Fenn was legit. However it was a fun daydream. I am down for another hunt. Take a look at this idea.

Now this is an idea I need to get into. Setting up search for digital treasure. Charge a 13% fee. The searchers pay for the right to participate. The total prize is roughly $1,000,000. Sit back and collect my $150k fee. Classic!

Right. But I bet the legal fees, credit card charges, web costs, etc. would eat the profit up in a hurry. But if it got traction and it had a 2 to 4 million dollar "Cache" because enough people joined then I think everyone would be a winner.

I have never looked for it, or even really looked into it at all. I have heard of it but that is it. Is there any commonly accepted areas its in like a state or region?

It's a cool idea for sure. Crazy how many people have been killed/how many SAR missions have been carried out to rescue people who were out looking for it. Seems like Fenn is wealthy enough to have made this possible, anyway...

I think it's real. But the dude is an egomaniac for sure. I predict he'll continue to leak info or find other ways to get into the news until we know where it was found or he dies.

Its just so odd they won't say where it was found.

I can understand the person who found it wanting to remain anonymous but not saying where it was found just makes the whole thing seem super questionable.
