Favorite Form Of Cardio

I would prefer a nice ruck or hike in the mountains, but alas my suburban town doesn't offer much of that. So instead, I usually run. I don't really enjoy it, but when I get a good podcast on it makes it more bearable once I am a mile or so in. Usually do all of my exercising before work as well, so there aren't a ton of people out while I am sucking for air in the darkness.

lifting weights faster, because I absolutely cannot stand cardio! But seriously I'll hit the basketball court by myself at a fast pace. Taking shots and shagging the ball quickly, running full court for layups etc. It works because im not a good shot so im constantly running to grab the ball. If I lived anywhere with hiking trails, id do that. Sitting on a treadmill, all I can think of is how much I hate being on a treadmill.

Winter time I like the row machine and bike, I usually alternate between the two. Weekends I like to xc ski or skin. When it is warm I run, ruck, and mountain bike.

I usded to like Crossfit, but after we had our 2nd kid I stopped going and working out at home. I stopped doing all the kipping and found I actually gained more strength.

I mix jump rope days with low‑impact stuff so my knees don’t hate me later. One thing that surprised me was how good a session on a trampoline feels for steady cardio without burning out my joints. I started using one at home, and it’s been a solid way to keep my heart rate up on recovery days while still getting a decent sweat.

Definetly the ERG. If something happened to my concept2 I’d buy another one immediately. I try to get at least 50k/week on that thing.

For outdoors I like weighted hiking and XC skiing but can’t always do those due to time, weather etc so my concept 2 had become an essential piece of gear for me.

Jump rope is great, especially the weighted ones from Crossrope.

It’s running for me. Never ran before I got into my early 40’s and figured I should try and get into good shape before I got into bad shape. I started building up mileage and got into marathons when I turned 50. I totally get why people hate to run, I’m not exactly the biggest fan of it either but running those long distances definitely has helped my hunting experiences in the mountains.
