Well, we are headed west again. Hunting South Dakota this time. Quick trip so we won't camp. We were planning on it but cold weather has blown in and we don't have camping spots in the area we are going to.

Just the wife and I with the dog. Whitetail rifle tags.

Dog is ready.

Wide awake at 0357. LOL.

Headed to a spot we have looked at but never walked. Has all the makings of a great day. 28° with a high in the mid 50's. Chance of rain but we will be ok.

Young guy from Michigan pulled out at 0415. Hope he has a big one scouted.

There is a truck parked on the road behind where the buck is bedded. Dude sitting in it. Watched him get back.

He should go home. Or to the bar. Something. 😆

Great day. See if we can't find one for me tomorrow. We are coming back in a short bit for my son's tag so it's not a big deal. Really happy my wife was able to fill.

Dog did very well. He seems to understand of that when we have our rifles things are different.

We are home. Had a really healthy forkhorn I could have shot but let pass. Nice but quick trip. We will do it again shortly with the kids.

Beautiful weather. Good company. 😀

Once again, off we go. The kid and I have whitetail tags to fill.
Dog is not leaving the pile of gear. LOL

SDGFP came by this morning and picked up a dead hawk. Not sure what happened to it. Looks like a cat took a nibble, but I doubt mine are tough enough to tangle with that thing.

Still going strong. After this trip we have a muzzleloader mule deer tag and a cow elk tag. Been a busy Fall but some great experiences so far.

Good luck! Looking forward to updates.

I've got a buddy from CO that bowhunts the Black Hills for whitetails. He's tried to get me to meet him and hunt there a couple different times but it's never worked out.
