Back home. No deer for us. Those things are cagey.
Thanksgiving morning I had options but really wanted to give the kid an opportunity. Just didn't pan out for us. In the future I will push for him to go with on those high opportunity days. These whitetail hunts have gone well. The first time we had these tags 2-3 years ago we didn't even see one.
Work for a bit and then time for my wife's muzzleloader tag.
Headed west again. Worked my last shift at my job last night, on to new adventures. Brother and family are staying at the house, they looked surprised we were leaving to go hunt. LOL. Been telling them for a month. Nonhunter obviously.
This trip its the youngest kid and dog coming with us. Wife has a muzzleloader any deer tag and I have a rifle elk tag. Never done either one, but we know how to find deer and we know where we have seen elk. So there is that.
No elk or mule deer bucks. We did find a pile of whitetail doe so if worse comes to worse the Muzzleloader Princess will take one of those. And we found an area holding elk, lots of sign, no elk seen.
I would have went down there, but it would have been miserable to pack an elk out. Have yet to see an elk. Found mule deer bucks and whitetail bucks on public today, just not what she is after.
Wonder dog found this today. Got to be careful with dogs on public land. Pretty sure it is set for mountain lions.
We are all burned out I have decided. Except the dog. He is loving every minute of it. Been a long Fall, the rest of us are tired.
