The only things I really enjoyed in Farmington was fishing and hunting rabbits/prairie dogs.

Watch out for drunk drivers.

Farminton is an industrial supply town that services the oil and gas industry (mostly gas). It has little to offer in my observation. Somewhat of a "drive through" town.

I highly second the previous recommendation to visit Animas, CO via Silverton, Drive around the entire Alpine Loop (about 35 miles). If your vehicle is not high clearance with 4x4 then rent a Razor in Silverton. Somewhat expensive but worth it for a life time memory of the Alps of the USA.

Regarding hunting and fishing, I can't help. I trying to figure that out myself.

Dang, some of you guys are brutal. Lol yes, Farmington is a small town of about 50,000 people and swells to well over 100,000 on the weekends. It’s not just Farmington to visit, it’s the whole area and not just one town. Farmington, Aztec, Bloomfield, Durango, Cortez, Silverton, Chama, Pagosa Springs, etc. they are all within an easy 1 to 2 hour drive through some of the best mountain scenic roads around.

There are two archery clubs here, plenty of gun shops, sportsman’s warehouse, an excellent archery shop. Rock crawling, atv, SxS, dirt bikes, mountain bike trails.

Always some kind of festival, plays, or concerts going on somewhere, 2 Casinos and 1 on the JIC rez in Dulce. Definitely a different atmosphere and culture here. A mix of Hispanic and lots of Native stuff. I don’t think the drunk drivers are any worse than anywhere else I’ve been actually. Just seems like more because of a small town atmosphere.

You can also take a day trip and drive out to Shiprock and hike around the ancient lava core of a volcano. Just don’t stay long in the actual town of Shiprock. LOL you will definitely be hit up for money or food.

I like it here. Could be worse, could be better. At least it’s still a red county for the time being. I live on the opposite side of Farmington in Kirtland so everything is a little bit of a drive to get to so I do wish I lived a little closer to the mountains.

If you stop at the Blake’s lotaburger in Bloomfield make sure to pack an extra roll of tp in your pack.

A bit further dow 550 in Cuba NM is Bruno's Restaurant Cantina. Absolutely great Mexican food. On the right hand side of 550 just when you get into town, heading south.

Yep, Bruno’s is excellent. Might be headed that way tomorrow on my way to Albuquerque. If we decide to go. Kids want to go to the zoo and one last little trip before school starts.

Not really. It's an oil and gas town with E&P companies as well as field services. Once home to bigger producers BP, ConocoPhillips, and Cheveron until they changed their focus to more liquids production.

It has little to offer in my observation. Somewhat of a "drive through" town.

No art museums or symphonies, but it hosts the Connie Mack World Series. If you skirt the southern edge, then yes, you'd think it was a mini Odessa...

LEO did great and took the shooter out really quick. My wife’s uncle was one of the first people to drive through and his car was shot up pretty good. He is lucky to be alive from where the bullets hit.

I wish the gas industry would rebound but the new federal government won’t allow it. Even with directional drilling from one well pad. One power plant has closed now along with coal mine that supplied the coal. A lot of people have moved for jobs while others have stayed trying to piece something together.

Connie Mack World Series going on right now. After that the county fair which is probably the biggest county fair in the state.
