There are some well done fake websites for major shooting sport manufacturers. I ran across some as they came up in video clips links on FB looking very believable, like end of year warehouse sales - I knew something wasn’t right when CCI 250 primers were on sale! Checking the actual website (not following the link) shows a number of warnings that scam sites are anctively impersonating them.

I’ve even seen a few FB advertisers for things like small reloading suppliers this morning that look a lot like the fake sites, but they are small companies so it’s impossible to tell if they are real or not by searching outside of the link.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been scammed, so it really shocked me when I was about to buy a couple cases of 22 ammo from the fake CCI store - luckily they were stupid enough to list CCI 250 primers.

The Nosler one almost got me. Saw it advertised as a warehouse sale on FB. The prices were insane - like $20 for a box of 7prc ABLR. Then you scroll down to the bottom of the webpage and the payment stuff looked really suspicious. Went to the actual Nosler website and there was no such sale. The Nosler FB page made a post warning of the scam. Stay vigilant people!

There was a fake Hornady one a few days ago on FB. Almost got me until I went to check out and the ONLY way to pay was PayPal. The site wouldn’t let you use a credit card. Backed out and saw in the comments section that the site had been reported.

Not ammo related but.. I got pretty far down the path on a fake Darn Tough online store linked to Facebook before I realized something was fishy.

I never buy anything off Facebook or TikTok as most are scams and Facebook does nothing about them. To bad most people don’t learn and to bad Facebook does nothing care. I just stick to local sales anymore.

Thanks for the heads up. Checking if unabtanium items are shown as "in stock" has saved me a few times. I appreciate that most scammers no longer want a CC payment, as payment method has become a good indicator.

Of course, sometimes the promise of an unabtanium item is what has me interested, but my suspicion level has gotten pretty high.
