Factory rifle options with short threaded barrel

Looking for a rifle with the following characteristics (I'd rather buy what I want right out of the gate instead of working with a gunsmith):
  • 6mm ARC, 6 Creedmoor, or 243 WIN
  • Threaded 16" to 18" barrel (the shorter the better)
  • Adjustable length of pull or youth stock options available
  • Under $800-ish
So far I'm not seeing many options. The compact Tikkas come with a 20" barrel, which is just too long for what I'm wanting. The Ruger American Gen 2 Ranch in 6 ARC is an option as is the Mossberg Patriot Bantam, but I'm having a hard time getting excited about either option. Bergara has a 243 compact model, but it's got a Remington 700-type trigger, which I understand has downsides.

Any ideas besides just buying the Tikka and having it cut down?

If you can find a 2024 or earlier T3x Lite, you might save enough cash to pay for the chop and thread. You can rechamber a 1:8" .243 to 6mm Creedmoor.

Buy the cheapest tikka with a standard bolt face and a LS wild 6cm barrel
They will swap the barrel if you send the action in
Do this. I have 3 compact stocks left which come with spacers. Can send to Stephen for him to torque one in there for you.

not exactly what you are looking for but a Ruger Scout is a great gun. 16 or 18 inch barrel, stock spacers, and threaded barrel

Took me quite a while to dig around, looking for a similar setup. I settled on a Howa 1500 youth model with a 20” slim profile threaded barrel. Mine is in .308, and I can’t confirm if they offer it in 6CM/6ARC, but .243 should be no problem. I’ve been quite pleased with mine. The thin barrel keeps the weight down a bit, and in a new chassis it’s a solid rifle.

You could built an AR in 6 ARC. 16" barrel, adjustable stock, under $800.
I'm slowly realizing that my desire for a scaled-action 6 arc bolt gun that takes ICAR mags would be sooner solved at a similar weight with ... an AR in 6 arc that takes ICAR mags.

I grabbed a gen2 ranch when it came out and I absolutely love that thing. It’s in 5.56 but it usually good for moa or better. I got it for myself but my lady has taken it over with the adjustable length of pull.

That said I do want to upgrade the trigger eventually but I bought that instead of building a tikka 223 for tmks..

Good luck for 800 bucks.
