I have a Seekins PH3 in .300 Win mag currently coming back from them after some accuracy issues (bad bolt face) BUT I have about 150rds through this gun so far. It's enjoyable to shoot caliber considering! HOWEVER, am I missing something by shooting the factory muzzle brake? SRS option better. any other options to just help when not shooting suppressed? Thanks!!!

I shot a Seekins .300 a couple of years ago at the range, the owner let me try it. I'm 90% sure it was the factory brake and man it really tamed down that rifle. I had a 7.5lb .308 (unbraked) with me and that .300 was much easier to shoot, muzzle blast notwithstanding. Unless you're just wanting a different look, if the factory one does it for you, why change?

The only bad thing about the factory brake is the fact its a radial brake. I have one and would be changing it out to a side baffle brake if I wasn't going suppressed. The ports on the bottom kick up a bunch of dirt/dust when shooting prone.

I have 3 Seekins (.308, 6.5 PRC, 300 PRC) and can honestly say I've never shot any of them with the factory muzzle device. I've only ran mine suppressed. Sorry that's not any help to you.

Yeah, it doesn't look like it would be all that effective compared to other designs and it is open on the bottom. Even the ATC brake isn't all that effective but it isn't as obnoxious with concussive blast because the ports are 90 degrees.

I imagine there is definite room for improvement. A lot of the most effective ones with aggressive rearward baffles (like the Ti pro, APA bastard series, 419 options, etc) are going to be nastier noise wise than something with 90 degree ports. I like the idea of first port being 90 degrees with some rearward direction on the other ports.

I just made a post in the brake v suppressor thread.
Seekins PH3 7PRC.
Factory brake recoil reduction was much better than shooting the same ammo with a Diligent Defense STi.

Run suppressed, if you want a can that is light and can do many calibers. get the rugged Alaskan TI. it is a .36 cal can so you have options and weights like 5.6 oz.

Dead Air Nomad XC Ti or XC Lti (LTi being preferable on 300 prc), US Reaper, LPM Mach S, Stealth Additive Works Orev.

these are good options for the price points for sure, but the Dear air are heavier and one is longer. Both TI and both will run the same issues as the Alaskan. To me since i do not have all 3 to do sound tests, if you are hurting for money get the cheaper ones. if you do bench shooting than sure get the ones with less of a warranty. but if maximizing size, weight and having a warranty that will replace your can when you fall off a mountain in Alaska than get the rugged. I don't get paid for this, i just have had amazing success with them and their customer service

Price aside, the rugged alaskan is a 4 baffle can that has pretty mediocre suppression ratings. I'll trade a few ounces of weight for $400+ in my pocket and better suppression every time.

based on product manuals it looks like dead air is 4 db quitter, I am unable to find anyone testing these on their own to verify that. i can say what i am reading seems off and does not register to me. I shoot without ear pro, and find my can with a 338 winmag 300 win mag and 6.5 PRC to be better than any 556 can i have. data says otherwise. idk maybe i am deaf.

They tested a rugged alaskan 360 "Long" and the nomad XC on the same 20" 308 at the 2024 silencer summit. Not the ti one but it measured 5 dBa louder at shooters ear than the XC.
