I went to reload some Hornady brass tonight that were empties from factory loads. I noticed the primer pockets looked unusual when I was uniforming them. I went ahead and tried to prime them anyway and immediately had problems. Has anyone seen factor bras that looks like this?IMG_4291.jpeg

Was that before or after you messed with them?
Lucky for you, those are some of their better ones 😀

I can’t tell from the photo but are you talking about crimped primers?

I’m a reloading neophyte. I didn’t realize what a crimped pocket looked like. Thanks for the insight.

I’ve reloaded about a hundred pieces of Hornady brass and that’s the first batch that was crimped. Everything else was pretty decent.

Yeah they are a PIA. You can cut them out with a chamfer tool or use a primer pocket swage tool.

Watch out with cutting the crimp out as the primer is supported less and will tolerate less pressure.
