I picked up a Cooper Timberline a while back and between moving and changing jobs I’ve slacked on trying to get load development done so I’m going factory route this season. I know this is a loaded question but what factory ammo have y’all had luck with in 300wm Cooper’s? Going after mule deer and elk. Thanks in advance!

I’d bet outside of the Berger’s, that gun will like Barnes better than the others, and the Barnes will outperform the Berger in factory ammo

I have a Cooper 300 Win 52. Likes the Hornady 200 gr Eldx factory loads, then the Barnes loads at 180. Handloads, loves the 200 gr AB over 72.5 Rl 22.

The 3 I have messed with and have proven to perform well in other's 300wm rifles are the factory berger 215gr ammo, hornady precision hunter 200eld-x, and federal premium 180gr accubond ammo. I would try any of these 3 first.

I just picked up my Open Country LR LW in .300 Win and didn't have enough time to load any ammo before a prairie dog shoot but I did have a bunch of Barnes Vor-Tx 180 grain TTSX factory ammo. It shot sub MOA and I was making hits out to 1,000 yards with it. While not an ideal bullet for a grand, it shot well-enough and I killed a ton of African plains game out to 500 yds with it a few years' back with a Weatherby Mark V SBGM. Couldn't catch one in any animal, not even the nearly 1,000 lb blue wildebeest.

... one more edit to add: I had a bunch of Federal blue and silver box (now called Power-Shok?) 180 grain SP's on-hand from back when they were less than $18 a box at Cabelas. These shot around 1 MOA in my new Cooper. They appear to be now pushing $30 a box so not necessarily the best value any longer.
