lak go on the offense. Get on Facebook and tell everyone what has happened. Stop by Swap Shops and Pawn Shops in tour area.
Ask the storage unit owner if the have video cameras on site. Check neighboring businesses to see if they have video surveillance.
Most storage unit thefts occur in mass. They hit several all at once then fade out.
I know you have communicated with your local LE. Do your best to find serial numbers and get that to the police.
It’s amazing how suspects get good at hitting units and then get caught up in another crime where they will spill the beans on those involved.
Usually when a suspect gets caught they have a tremendous amount of stolen property piled up somewhere. Be the first to go and identify your property. It’s amazing how many victims get greedy and start identifying others property as their own.
Get the word out what has happened and what was stolen. Someone knows something.
Done and done. My bro in law owns the storage facility, so we have done everything on that side. Contacted neighboring business. Still working on the lead I have and trying to get ahold of a sheriff buddy to see what he can do.

Next step is to show up at the house where the person I suspect lives strapped and have a look around.

I had my duck hunting stuff ripped off. I did all the leg work, found the kid, got his name, number, vehicle, etc. I turned it over to the police and didnt hear anything. A couple weeks later I found one of my decoys in the back of his pickup with my initials still on it. Called it in and they told me that they didnt see any markings on it that would make it mine. Apparently the large LC on the bottom was to hard to see. I took video of it and sent it to them. Fast forward a couple days, they filled the ******* paperwork out wrong, took the decoy out of his pickup and couldnt get a warrant. All I got was a sorry. Sorry apparently is worth 1000 bucks that I lost. The detective I talked multiple items asked me what I wanted him to do. Apparently, your ******* job was not the correct answer.

To the OP, find the guy, beat the piss out of him and move on. Dont rely on the police.
It's likely going to come to this. Gotta go in hot though because he lives on the Rez.

Gee, ive hated people for a long time...……...

Sorry to hear that and it sucks ass big time as I am all for the harshest punishment they can get.
So, to brighten your day at least a lilttle...….....and I will throw this out to other rokslilders…….....tell me what you need as far as reloading. I'm sure that I am like lots of other guys here and have extra stuff laying around. I've got a shitload of hunting stuff and reloading gear and would be happy to send some your way.

Is your truck plastered with window stickers promoting all the great stuff you own (used to own)? I always wonder how much those stickers attract losers to trucks looking for easy "window" shopping.

Recently had all of my tackle stolen from my vehicle. And today found out my storage unit was broken into with my wife's nice mountain bike, tool box full of tools, all of my reloading gear, and all of my backpacking/camping gear. I am beginning to really hate people.

Sorry to hear.
Unfortunately Colorado is embracing restorative justice policing and they caught the perp he would do no jail time. Pro crime ,anti victim.

It seems strange you were a victim twice in a short period of time. Could this be the work of someone close to you who knew what was in your vehicle and storage unit? Were any other storage units broken into? Anyone have access to your keys? Every storage facility I have ever visited had extensive surveillance systems...have you reported this to Police? They can access the footage...might be a familiar face. I've been a victim too but went to the ends of the Earth to find the culprit. Imagine my disappointment to learn it was a childhood friend who I hired right after he finished his eight years in the military.

Got footage of a gal stealing the envelopes from an engagement party we hosted in my home. She was related to the couple getting married but was not invited to the party...they came with a plan. I gave the footage to the family instead of the Police that time and everything was promptly returned...there was a lot of money in those cards.

While insurance may or may not cover it...I only find respite from the angst by tracking the perp down and seeing them duly processed. Watch craigslist...amazing how stupid people can be. If you see it on Craigslist have the Police arrange a buy and see this asshat arrested. Don't be surprised if ya know the person.

I wish it was any of these and I appreciate the thoughts. I've been racking my brain and there are very few connections. Too much to explain here, but I know what I know and have a few LEO friends helping me think of other possibilities. I can't really dwell on it, too much else going on in life that is positive. I'll be glad if my stuff is found, but if not oh well.

I see trucks and trailers all the time with stickers all over and never understood it. Simply providing too much information on what equipment you own. I read about some professional fisherman that had to stop putting stickers on their truck because they were constantly getting robbed in hotel parking lots. I have a great collection of stickers that I might put on a cooler some day but nothing goes on my truck or trailer.

I live in the country and have trail cameras set up on my driveway and garage and have started setting one up at my campsites or near my truck, if I am leaving it for a few days. I minimize what I leave in my truck when I am hunting and what I do leave is replaceable. I am putting a 6x6 post in the back of my truck this year and I am going to install eye bolts so I can cable lock my chainsaw, cooler etc., to it. Make them earn it. I just paid for my annual gun insurance policy through the NRA in addition to my regular home owners policy. I couldn't afford to replace some of my hunting rifles and pistols if stolen or destroyed otherwise. Extra insurance is a good investment IMO.

I take my weapons, pack etc., into my hotel room when traveling. Its a few extra trips but I don't leave critical gear in my truck in parking lots no matter how tired I am. I also try to park where I can see my truck from the restaurant or my room.

I assume I am going to get robbed and try to take steps accordingly to prevent or minimize the loss and normally I have not had much of a problem. Unfortunately, there are tweekers everywhere and you really can't afford to leave your guard down these days.

They shut down a theft ring in Missouri a few years ago after a guy bought a fishing reel on Ebay to replace one that was previously stolen and it turned out it he bought his reel back. He called the police and several guys got arrested.

Hmmm I'm a strong proponent of sticking the offender through a wood chipper and maybe the next ding ding would think before they go taking stuff that doesn't belong to them......just my 2 cents.

Nope. Was a plane jane 08 ext cab silverado with a cap. No billboard on the back that screams cool stuff inside. Never understood the whole sticker thing. Saw one last fall that said "This truck is protected by the good lord and a gun".... wonder how long that lasted... 🙄 bottom line people are rotten. I trust society less and less every year unfortunately.

Couldn't agree more. Lack of stuational awareness and letting your guard down doesnt cost you until it does.
