We just had the padlocks cut on our utility trailer that sits by a garage. We just had some papers in it from when we sold our business. I am sure the thief was thinking," who the hell locks up paper". It still pisses me off though. I have a new security camera system sitting beside me now that will be installed this weekend.

There's always hope. I drove my truck to Spokane and it was stolen. Guy used to to rip off a bunch of others. I carpet bombed the internet with pics and descriptions which led to a random tip. I found the truck, painted and beat and through a random event it was linked to enough other crimes, one of which left blood, that a DNA test could be run.

Fast forward a bit over a year and my guy just got sentenced to 24 months of biting pillows for cigs and 12 months community custody on the end of that.

It may not make right what he did.....but he's outta business for a couple of years.

I got a summons to court to testify in a trial but had know idea what it was for so I called the prosecutor up to ask what it was about. He said they had caught a guy breaking into cars at our apartment complex and they must have got him as he was getting to our car but if I didn’t know anything about it I wouldn’t need to testify. This would’ve been the 2nd or 3rd time we had a vehicle broken into at this complex so I was pretty glad they caught him but I didn’t figure it would do any good for me to show up and testify when the police hadn’t even bothered to call me when they first caught him.
So I go on with my life not thinking much about it until 3 weeks later I get another letter in the mail from the prosecutor informing me that the trial has been canceled due to the defendant now being deceased. I laughed and figured the bastard must have finally pissed off the wrong person! In fact I’m still laughing 15 years later at that idiot!

It won't help you, but these knuckleheads all eventually screw up and end up caught. My daughter is a police officer, as she says "thank goodness crooks are stupid"!

Recently had all of my tackle stolen from my vehicle. And today found out my storage unit was broken into with my wife's nice mountain bike, tool box full of tools, all of my reloading gear, and all of my backpacking/camping gear. I am beginning to really hate people.
Often times LEO's don't have the time or manpower to do this, and it might help. Call EACH of the pawnshops near you right away. Give them your name and phone number and descriptions of all of your items that were taken. Get the pawn shops email address and send them a PDF of a form with all of your items on it. Did you have the serial number on your wife's bike. If so the LEO can enter that into the CJIN/NCIC system so that if it shows up someplace or for some reason an officer runs that serial number it will come back as stolen. If you marked any of your items with something permanent say your tools and you inscribed or stamped your initials into the tools, that also helps identify them at the pawn shops or if someone has them. I would be pissed too if that happened to me. Here's to hoping they catch who did it!

I was fishing one day with a buddy up on the Flathead River and while we were gone out on the river in my friends boat, someone broke the passenger side door window on my pickup using rocks. They missed the window a few times and put nice dents in the door also. My friend had his wallet and watch stolen that he had put in the center console. I was going to tell him to hide it someplace but I didn't. I had a few items taken but nothing of real value was in the pickup.

Several months later LEO's doing a probation/parole search on a doper located my friends wallet, ID, and everything else he had in his wallet. They still had it after all that time. The suspect was charged, convicted, and sent to prison. Sad but true, I would get a restitution check via the State of Montana once in a while to cover my damages. It was a couple thousand to fix the door and the window. It was laughable really as I might get a check for $15.00. Several months would go by and another check would show up, $9.40. It went on for a while and then stopped at some point. I don't think I ever received more than $100.00 total.

Best of luck and I hope they catch them.

I've had multiple guns ripped off twice, and had tools stolen once. Talk about wanting to shoot someone. It's a godawful feeling man it really is. Eventually the sting will subside but it sucks knowing some lazy POS screw up decided to steal from you.

I have had multiple work trucks broken into and stolen over the years. Always sucks, never get what the value is from the insurance company.
I had one theft that really pissed me off. I have a cabin in North Central Pa. I get up there on a Friday after work and discover someone had broken the broke in at the deck door. I didn't touch anything and called the Pa State Police.
The trooper refused to lift a fingerprint from the brand new polished brass doorknob at the door of entry. It was July and I doubt they had gloves on. The trooper claimed that it was probably just kids fooling around. That is when I lost it. $2,000.00 worth of stuff stolen is breaking and entering to me. He didn't like it when I asked him if the only thing the State Police is good for is speed traps!

My neighbor woke up early one morning to discover some bozos trying to steal his generator.
He shot out their tire with a .22 and told his wife to call 911 and tell them "Shots fired".
Thief car got stuck in deep snow so they ran.
20 minutes later there were 5 state troopers here tracking the thiefs through the snow.

Without "shots fired" there would not have been a quick response (we are 20 mins outside of Fairbanks).

We went and picked up some of our stuff to bring to the house this morning. Took the AR with me hoping they would have come back for round 2. No such luck. Still waiting to see what the sheriff can do. Insurance is a non option unfortunately. Can't find the serial number for the bike, though I could have swore we wrote it down somewhere.

I'm pissed about the bike, backpack and reloading gear. Just got the reloading stuff from my dad after talking about it for a decade and hadn't had time to set it up. Now it's gone.

I guess it is only stuff and can be replaced, just really pissed you off to have to work harder to get the shit you already had.

That sucks man, sorry to hear. Not much worse than a weaselly ass thief. I had my house broken into a few years ago while on vacation. Called the fuzz and had a report made for my insurance company (Farm Bureau). Itemized all the stuff that was missing (including a $1000+ recurve) and had a check in about a week. Hopefully you get treated well by yours, FWIW.

Edit: That sucks about your insurance...

Hate a thief. Worst of the worst. Wish we would use old time punishment and cut hands off. Wouldn't be able to steal and get caught but twice.

lak go on the offense. Get on Facebook and tell everyone what has happened. Stop by Swap Shops and Pawn Shops in tour area.
Ask the storage unit owner if the have video cameras on site. Check neighboring businesses to see if they have video surveillance.
Most storage unit thefts occur in mass. They hit several all at once then fade out.
I know you have communicated with your local LE. Do your best to find serial numbers and get that to the police.
It’s amazing how suspects get good at hitting units and then get caught up in another crime where they will spill the beans on those involved.
Usually when a suspect gets caught they have a tremendous amount of stolen property piled up somewhere. Be the first to go and identify your property. It’s amazing how many victims get greedy and start identifying others property as their own.
Get the word out what has happened and what was stolen. Someone knows something.

I had my duck hunting stuff ripped off. I did all the leg work, found the kid, got his name, number, vehicle, etc. I turned it over to the police and didnt hear anything. A couple weeks later I found one of my decoys in the back of his pickup with my initials still on it. Called it in and they told me that they didnt see any markings on it that would make it mine. Apparently the large LC on the bottom was to hard to see. I took video of it and sent it to them. Fast forward a couple days, they filled the ******* paperwork out wrong, took the decoy out of his pickup and couldnt get a warrant. All I got was a sorry. Sorry apparently is worth 1000 bucks that I lost. The detective I talked multiple items asked me what I wanted him to do. Apparently, your ******* job was not the correct answer.

To the OP, find the guy, beat the piss out of him and move on. Dont rely on the police.

True story;

In Oakland, Ca if your car is stolen they don't send a LEO to make a report...you file it online.

In NY, they have a no bail policy......they caught a bank robber, let him out...then he robbed 3 more banks and they caught him again...but then let him out on OR- no bail....he made some crack that he loves the Democrats as he was leaving.

In SF and many other areas they won't prosecute for crimes of under $1000...so to thieves this means essentially anything that isn't bolted down is free.

Liberal politicians are killing us slowly.
