Quick question for ideas... I went shooting tonight and while hiking in the eye relief/focus kept adjusting while rubbing on my pack.

Scope in question is a Nikon monarch 2.5-10 x 42 and it has the variable eye piece that twists.

My initial thought was a dab of jb weld... Also wondering if the butler creek flip top would hold it down...

Thoughts?

No way I would put JB weld on my scope. Electrical tape will work fine.

The flip up covers don't keep the eye piece from turning, but they work really well for keeping the glass clean. I do break a lot of them, and have started buying the aluminum ones for my Leupolds. I haven't checked to see if the Leupold flip up caps fit any other brands of scopes. If the threads are the same, I would think they would work though.

Picked up a butler creek cover and I think that this will work to keep the eyepiece snug so it can't adjust with the cover on. Thanks all.

Once you've got the ocular set to YOUR eye, take a fine tipped Sharpie in silver color and make two reference marks on the ocular housing & tube. That will afford you to quickly check that your ocular is set where it needs to be. Two little dots will suffice, and the silver Sharpie stands out nicely against a black scope...

+3 for using black electrician's tape to secure the ocular if it keeps moving all over the place.
Or, you can butcher that Butler Creek cap and use the body of it as a 'gasket' of sorts. Lordy knows, it won't be long before the cover snaps off, anyway! They are built like crap, anymore...
