I'm wanting a pair of 15 power binoculars to take on a hunt next month. Due to some work issues and poor planning it's not looking good for a pair from the big three. What the best bang for buck in the mid tier range? What's everyone using and what have you compared them against? Thanks

My son in law is a way better hunter than me and swears by the Vortex Kaibab. It’s their main optic for desert mule deer. I’m not a fan, only because they are made in China.

Sig, Leupold and Maven all have pretty decent 15x glass that is made in Japan. Ballpark same price range. I’ve looked through them all in convention hall type settings so that’s the extent of my experience.

I have the SLCs and love them, but before I got them I tried out the Mavens and liked them. They also have a demo program so you can try them out on your hunt and if you don’t like them, no obligation to buy. I think there is definitely a line in quality/price that if you go below you aren’t really getting the benefits of 15x binos.

i've seen a few pairs of the Minox 15x58s on here. They're the best i've seen for less than $700. They're hefty but Japanese glass and a great value.

The Minox are great for the money. Used mine for two years before upgrading to the meoptas. If you can spend about $1k, I’d pick the meoptas hands down. The Minox run 4-500ish used.

I had a pair of Viper 15x50's for many years and I found tons of game with them. I have SLC 15's now and they're much better but cheap 15s on a tripod are certainly a viable option on a budget.

Another vote for the Meopta’s.

I have Swaro SLC’s now but had a pair of the Meopta’s and they are pretty close.

Any idea what the IPD is on the Minox? Apparently, it's an internet mystery.

I picked up a pair of barely used vortex viper 15x50s a couple years ago for $200 bucks in the classifieds. Love them.

I have Robby’s old pair of the 15x56 Kaibabs. I really like them! Glass is better than I was expecting for what they are. I don’t always use them, but if I’m taking the dirt bike to a glassing spot they definitely Come with me!

Not sure on the ipd of the minox.

if you can swing the $ for the meoptas they are top notch, I consider them top shelf for the 15s and only slightly bested by the slc.
