So, here's the deal. Anyone have any field experience with a really really small stable tripod? I'll explain my desires and this tripod won't be for glassing---just to record the shot.
I hunt by myself a lot and I use my regular tripod for a shooting rest. Last year, I purchased a bridge camera, canon SX 50 HD and its got a 200 zoom lens and quite frankly, is an amazing camera. I most likely won't carry a spotter any more due to having this camera.
One of the issues on long range shots is the ability to spot your shot. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. What I am looking for is a mini tripod, small, stable and light that I could use with this camera and set it up next to me while I shoot and I'd be able to record video. I've used this system recently while target and "Idaho Rock" shooting and it works great except that I am using another full size tripod. I know there are a gazillion mini tripods out there and most of them are junk. Input??

I use the SliK mini and it has worked just fine in the past. One day I will upgrade, but not for a bit.

I have been really happy with this so far. This easily straps to the back of my bag when heading in or out. It colapses really small and can fit inside while day hunting. I have put my DSLR with a big lense on it, and you just need to be smart about the balance. I would be confident with a small spotter, maybe not a big one. I don't plan to stand and glass, so this shorter unit is well worth the weight/space savings to me.
