After 56 pages and over 1100 posts on this pack I figured I'd ask if anyone in the Billings,Mt area had a 3500 that they'd let me look over. I've never seen one of these. I and everyone I hunt with have MR's but I'd sure like to get something a little lighter.

Im on the current list for one, when It comes your welcome to check it out. Im close to you.

I have been abusing a 2014 model 3500 up in the Libby area and in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Weight and durability are huge for what I needed. Also I am not a very big guy and have a lower back problem. The comfort is great in all scenarios. This pack is excellent with or without weight. Also Steve is excellent to deal with. I couldn't be happier. You will not be disappointed if you chose to purchase one.

I think I have decided to go with the Exo packs but am at a loss as to whether I need the 3500 or 5500. I won't be spending more than 7-8 days in the field with it as a backpack hunting pack. I will be carrying my shelter (haven't decided between UL tent or a tipi style) and my sleeping bag/pad. I have a tendency to over-prepare and pack more than I need but realize I am going to have to work on that. A LOT!!!

Can I pack what I need for a week in the backcountry in a 3500 or should I get the 5500?

The 3500 has more space than it seems. However. I would put the 3500 as an up to 5 day trip. Over that I would say 5500. Obviously many factors apply as to how much you can fit.

Go with the 5500, you can always compress extra bag space, but when it's full, it's full. I started out with a Kifaru Highcamp 4800, and just upgraded to the 7000, very glad I did.

Contiue to be impressed with m 2014 3500. Currently using it for training and turkey hunting. For training I have it loaded down with 80 lbs. of Quickcrete that I carry at least every other day. In turkey hunting mode it hauls my blind and decoys great.

God Bless.

I went ahead and pre-ordered today. I sure hope it isn't 10 weeks like the site says. Not sure if I can handle the anticipation that long!!!! LOL.

Now to make up my mind on a shelter.

Sounds great, thanks!

We feel really confident right now that the 10 week lead time is very conservative. Hopefully its more in the 6-8 week time-frame.

I went with the 5500. I always end up panicking at the last second and packing extra stuff I really don't need.

Exactly why I sold my 2014 3500 and have the 5500 on order!

That's funny, that's exactly why I went with the 3500. I tend to throw extra crap in at the last minute so I ordered the smaller pack in the hopes that it will force me to pack smarter. I guess time will tell if I made the right decision but I rarely go on trips longer than 5-6 days at most anyway so I'm probably okay...

That's why I originally went with the 3500. I know I pack too much and I figured I might pack smarter. I figure it didn't work so why fight it. LOL

I use a 3500 but have not been over 5 days. I also always have a Kifaru Pod in my pack. It works great for extra storage of gear when needed.

Does anyone in the Denver area happen to have one of these packs? Either the 3500 or 5500. I'd love to see one before placing an order.

I was thinking of getting a Kifaru but the Exo packs piqued my interest since they have more pockets and I'm anal about organization.
