Does a bull elk rear, bone in quarter drop easily into the 5000, or do you fight it a lot to get it to squeeze in or would the 7200 would be a better option?

I’m one of the weird ones and always throws meat in the bag instead of between bag and frame.

You’re probably not getting a bull elk quarter in a 5000 bone in. Deboned would be hard enough.

I was a die hard meat in the bag guy but with the exo it’s easier to sandwich it and it’s more secure without adding a bunch of crap. They made the system usable. The frame also has a taper to it, which keeps meat between from sliding down. After packing a lot of animals with a kifaru that was the most noticeable thing with meat on my back.

No to putting a quarter into the 5k bag, and I don't believe the 7200 will make any difference either. The EXO isn't designed that way.

With the way the k4 is designed I think you would spend more time fighting it In the bag then just separating the frame.

That said I think bone in the 5000 would be tight.

Would ask Exo. IMHO I would not recommend. Simple to put meat against these frames, as they are designed
, and will carry weight WAAAY more comfortably. Unless you put something else in bottom you're gonna get a bunch of weight low in the pack, everything will sag. Would not rec doing it that way.

Good luck, I damn near had to give mine away.

Was super happy with the exo this fall. Having owned kifaru and SG, it’s apparent that the exo guys put some serious thought into every aspect of the frame.

Picked up a 2200 bag to compliment my 7200! Looking forward to a more streamlined day hunt option. Also looking forward to trying the clamshell design with that bag. Fantastic deal, even for us Canadians.
