EXO K4 Now or Wait for the EXO K4X

I'm still using the K2 w/ 2200 and 5000 bags. One of the thing I like most about my K2 5000 is the large stretchy pockets on the bag. I'm glad to see that those may be back.
 
I am excited, I’m going to put 26.5” stays on my k4 and turn it into a dedicated hauler and the X will be my hunting pack

Sounds like the X will be a sick pack in many ways, especially for my needs on the coast. I love the k4 but the new version will be easy to justify
 
K4x will be worth waiting for if you are a mountain hunter. The prototype bags that I’ve been using, as well as the latest that Steve has in that picture, are so dialed now. More minimal than the current K4 offerings, while still being very functional. The K4x frame is dimensionally the same as a K4, except that it weighs significantly less while maintaining the same rigidity and performance. Bags are completely cross compatible. They are not Xpac, DCf or Ultra fabric, but one that outperforms all of those. EXO is going to absolutely knock it out of the park with this pack.
 
2 pounds is massive for mountain hunting, especially solo. Getting older you put much value in being able to be efficient in high country terrain and still be motivated to stay the course. I like the k2 bag layout the best as far as side pockets and front. The k4 didn’t do anything for me, the side pocket zippers was a no go…been waiting for this lighter set up hope the waits worth it. 2 pounds less is more than welcome.
 
Where is this 2lbs less information coming from? I haven't been able to find that mentioned anywhere but this thread
 
Still rocking the K2 with 3600 bag. Checked out my buddies k4 and didn’t feel like there were any major design improvements. Maybe it carries a load better but I’ll wait for more reviews before I pony up another $700
 
Being a long-time EXO user, I'm always interested to see what they come up with. The side stretchy pockets have always lacked a bit, and I did like the non-zippered pockets of the previous versions. I really like several of the Teratorn's features, especially the side stretchy pockets, because I can actually access them with the pack on, even with impaired shoulder mobility. A 2-pound savings is not physically noticeable for me, as I cannot tell the difference between a 34 or 36-pound pack, let alone an 80 or 82-pound pack.

Did you sheep hunt with a 4k size pack this year? Hoping for a 7k option.
