Doctors prescribe diet and exercise all the time. Then patients return the following year with the same issues and get tired of hearing about their weight and the importance of diet and exercise. My whole family thinks that doctors are the devil because all they want to talk about is diet and exercise to lose weight. They're all overweight and have chronic health problems as a result, but think the doctors are just assholes who don't want to help them because they're fat-phobic.
I have several people in my life that have seen I don't even know how many Psych doctors and not one told them to exercise. Most are so amazing that they would diagnose their problem in maybe 15 minutes and prescribe a medication. Not one time did they ever walk out with a prescription for something. I'm sure they all get invited by the drug companies to a free trip to Hawaii for a "conference" about all the new meds they have. My wife used to be a medical assistant and her doctor got free trips all the time.
