Hey folks,

Going to dip my toes in the mechanical world again, I've got a pronghorn hunt upcoming in August then heading to AK for caribou next Sept, with Iowa whitetails mixed in.

I'm going to have a couple IW wide in my quiver for close shots, but I'm going to assume there's going to be a bunch of wind to deal with + I can't afford to shoot Iron Will @ every animal lol.

Looking at the three named heads, wondered who's shot them (specifically past 50) & how they've performed for you

deadmeat v1 or v2, and what weight? the v1's have thicker blades, the v2 100 grs have an aluminum post that holds in the blades, or doesn't, depending on what you hit.

No experience with Evolution. They're up next on my list as well.

Having used the other two (deadmeats more than mini mag), can't really go wrong with either..personal preference to the deadmeat on my end. If you're spot and stalking, the deadmeat blades are more prone to opening if dragged through brush so keep that in mind.

On both of those heads, i have to add 2 yards to to my sight tape when shooting past 80 yards (if sighted in with field tips). The BMP usually included with a package of broadheads will give you correct drop at longer ranges.

I’ve killed some mature bulls with both the dead meat and Hyde, I’m currently shooting the Hyde’s due to the glue in design. I would be happy to hunt with either, I’d ditch the iron wills, I sold mine and use mechanicals for everything now. No reason so use them upclose, that would be the ideal place for a mech since they use a little more energy.

I’ve dragged the dead meat through miles of brush in my quiver and have never had a single one come open in my quiver.

I’ve passed through bulls with both above mentioned heads out past 60 yards. As long as you have a reasonable draw weight and length they are awesome. I shoot 74lbs, 27.5” draw and a 440gr arrow.

Both heads are very durable

Grim Reapers all day. blade retention spring system is easy.
Sharp part of the blades not exposed. (Cant cut string and they dont get dull hitting things).

The Deadmeat and the Mega for that matter are pretty awesome heads. Ive got some of the EO whitetail heads and they shoot great, but no kills with them yet. Either would work well for you I'd think.
