Coming from a life in Alaska, and the Northern Rockies I am always blown away by the number of idiots that die in the Southern states when it gets cold.

I remember when I lived in Kentucky a flurry or two and they would be lined up at the Piggly Wiggly stocking up on milk, bread and eggs. No one ever buys canned goods or cases of water.

Then the disaster that happened in Texas a couple years ago. Made me thank God that I live someplace remote away from people. And have the equipment to take care of our family come rain, shine, flood, feast, famine or insurection.

Thursday: -46 wind chill
Friday: -54 wind chill
Snow: 3-10" depending on the model
  • Got snow fences up late yesterday
  • Gonna add plastic to exterior (already did inside) windows on W/N sides of the house today
  • Last day of school before break for my daughters, so we will ride out the cold, snow, and wind at home tomorrow
  • Oh yeah, got generator gas and filled up the tractor with diesel as well
  • Other vehicles full of fuel too.

You mean it's not 65F and sunny everywhere like it was here today?😉

Yes even compared to Las Cruces Scottsdale is heaven. That and you have bimbos, we only have cutter Latina chicks here.

But your average age in Scottsdale is probably 55, and ours in 25.

I genuinely wanted to either test my gear out or either be kicked back in my recliner with a fire in the wood heater. However fortune favored neither.. had to go into work tonight.

I’m worried about roads being frozen over in the am but we shall see. I had full plans to be prepared if I got stuck at work or worse yet on the side of the road, but I’m unorganized and time was not on my side to prep accordingly.
I have a couple of bowls of chili, some water, dog food, a blanket and my heavy hunting jacket..
Not as good as I could be or in years past but I’m better than average

It was in the low 40’s where Im at the other day. I even had to put a sweater on.

Now that I’ve proved Im one of you, you can believe me when I say this isn’t really THAT cold.
(Stay safe out there)
