Creedmoor for Brown Bear Hunt

I noticed a new power factor was introduced in this thread that we need to consider. The "Grit" factor. How is this one measured? What is the minimum "Grit" factor needed to kill coastal brown bears compared to elk? For that matter, let's use a "well-known" and "flawless" gold standard measurement. How much energy is needed to kill a coastal brown? 🍿
This or the original comment about elephants lacking grit reminded me of a debate we had in college - which would win in a cage match between a male grizzly (we can say coastal brown) vs a male silverback gorilla, armed with an aluminum baseball bat, and he knows how to use it? (I always went with the bear.) So, lose the cage - which would win in a match of a coastal brown vs. a bull (let's say African) elephant? I'm going with the bear, and probably put it as the endpoint in any "Grit" factor spectrum. (I am open to another "Grittiest" endpoint animal.)

How about gritting on these 🥜.

Well, I know a guy who whooped a Rock Ape in a cage years ago. Back in the day when they had that kinda stuff at fairs. Pre-dates MMA stuff I guess.

He went back the following night and and hid in the back just to see how everyone else faired. The Rock Ape took a different approach that night, jumped around the cage throwing 💩 at everyone 🤣.

So using ricer math, if man can beat Rock Ape, but Silverback can beat Rock Ape, silverback or man with baseball bat maybe has a chance?

I think Bull Elephant takes Coastal Brown bear tho.

I had not thought about the other uses of hands by the ape. Poo has Knockdown Power.

What if the bull elephant has no tusks?

These stories need to stop. Yes there are lots of rifles chambered in smaller cartridges in the villages, the hunting practices are often questionable and you only hear the one success story, not the dozens of stories of lost animals or moose that took 15 bullets to die, or caribou that were so blasted up there was nothing left to harvest.

When I first moved to AK I believed all the stories too. Not anymore.
Exactly. Natives don’t hunt with small caliber weapons because they are effective. They hunt with them because that’s what they have access to. End of story.
