Hey guys. Last year I mz hunted co for deer. Was successful one a nice one but could have gotten a better one if I could have extended my range a little.

Currently working on a new sight set up. The question I have is at what distance will I still have effective knockdown power? Can I feel comfortable at 200-250 if my new sight system will allow for this shot?

I am currently shooting BH209 with. 250 grain Thor bullet.

Any opinions on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

I believe your velocity estimate is very close to reality for your load and your projectile. One of the things I do not know is what is the minimum velocity that the 250 Thor will operate at.

I not shoot Thor's so I do not have any reliable information. I do and have shot a lot of 250 grain bullets through a chrono from which I have run ballistic sheets.

This sheet is for a 50x270 Lehigh Brass bullet. Your Thor will have a higher BC so it will fly little flatter and have a little more retained energy across the ranges.

When you look at the energy remaining at 200/250 yards there is way more than enough energy for a good harvest on a deer.
