EMR II takes a canoe ride

Great pics Stid as said before very jealous!

I bent the hooks on my EMR 2 horizontal compression straps right out of the box per Aron's suggestion works great but yes seeing them would be lighter I am sure.

Ok, good deal. I'm definitely going to try that.

Sorry but I can't say, would be easy to see where his place is.

The canoe is a plain old 14ft Coleman plastic canoe. The Aluminum ones stick to rocks and sand too bad and fiberglass gets busted from rock impacts. Plastic slides better than any other choice and the smaller profile is easier to line.

Yep. That's Royalex. Almost indestructible, but heavy as a pig.

Apparently they just closed the last plant manufacturing Royalex. Snap one up if you come across any and plan to be doing more trips like this. My buddies and I are going to add at least a couple to our "fleet". They may not be great to portage, but if you want something that'll take a beating, they're as close to bulletproof as you can get.

Just don't portage it three and a half miles with a pack too.

I used zip ties, but 2 mm cord works great too.

Thanks Aron! Zip ties easy enough to change if need be. Probably try bending them first but will do zip ties if I don't like the results.

Stid, sorry for the hijack. Great thread, thank you for the pictures and taking us along vicariously through you!

No hijack at all,, this thread is after all a EMR II review.

Learned a few tips myself. :)
