Had a chance to take the EMR II out for a canoe trip down the Yukon. We flew into a drainage near Canada and floated out to Circle Alaska. Was honored to be accompanied by a local trapper that has lived in the bush for over 30 years.

Looks like an awesome trip. The pictures don't do it justice, although they are great photos. Seeing the yukon river in person is something else. It's also really interesting during break up. One year during break up I saw a caribou on a chunk of ice that was floating down the river.

How do you like the EMR II so far?

Like the layout better than any pack I've tried so far. Got to do something about the hooks that hold the compression straps to the frame, they fall off when I loosen the straps. Other than that I'm very pleased.

Beautiful scenery and great photos! I always enjoy these threads. A great escape of sorts for those of us that don't have that in our own back yard!

Interesting comment. I have found the same with the Nomad at times. It isn't the end of the world but it can be annoying. Thought about using SR buckles but that almost seems like overkill. Please let me know if you come up with a good solution.

I'm going to start with adding some small rubber bands to keep them on, once I use the pack enough to know if I would really want to remove them, I will most likely sew the straps on, those metal hooks are heavy.
