Elk with a 6 ARC

For a few reasons that may be completely personal to me. My 6.5 PRC weight was 15 lbs and wouldn’t fit in a scabbard or slung across my chest while riding. My 6mm ARC weighs about 8.5 lbs fully loaded and has a 7.5” shorter barrel length. 6mm ARC is cheaper to shoot, easier to spot shots, and substantially quieter. It’s just a more pleasant rifle to me. Plus the bullet I was using in the PRC absolutely destroyed two mule deer I shot with it. Ruined two full quarters.

I don't run the ELDs at all, for that very reason. Almost exclusively use LRX. Excellent results every time. May not be as sleek as ELDs, but I'm more concerned with what it does on the animal instead of in the air. Not a criticism, just saying they're worth checking out.

Why is that?
Are you asking him about the 1800fps or taking it regardless of weight?

1800fps IMPACT VELOCITY - that is a critical distinction - is the lower threshold for expecting that bullet (most all Hornady ELDM bullets) to open and perform as intended.

No I was asking him why he would choose one over the over. He answered my question right after my post, just didn't hit "reply" to tag me.
