And yet the 108 eldm seems to have killed plenty of elk. It’s solid for antelope, minimum for deer, and it’s not at all a good option for elk.
If I wanted one for all of those, I’d probably go for a 30-06 or 6.5 PRC.

Why is that? You’re good to go. I’d take the ARC over the PRC regardless of weight and horses. Keep your shots limited to the 1800fps mark and you’re all set.

Are you asking him about the 1800fps or taking it regardless of weight? Why is that?
No I was asking him why he would choose one over the over. He answered my question right after my post, just didn't hit "reply" to tag me.Are you asking him about the 1800fps or taking it regardless of weight?
1800fps IMPACT VELOCITY - that is a critical distinction - is the lower threshold for expecting that bullet (most all Hornady ELDM bullets) to open and perform as intended.
@GOninety what happened to those elk you shot with a 108 ELDM out of a 6 ARC?It’s solid for antelope, minimum for deer, and it’s not at all a good option for elk.

How many elk have you shot with it to form your opinion? Oh right, none, carry on ……..It’s solid for antelope, minimum for deer, and it’s not at all a good option for elk.
