BLUF: Is the 6 ARC with 108 eldms good out to 600 yards on elk? If so, I would rather take it than my heavy 6.5 prc.

I am have found myself in a situation where I am trying to decide whether to take my relatively new 6 arc or my heavy but trusty 6.5 prc on a solo, back country, 3 day elk hunt. I wasn’t planning on packing camp in on my back, but due to a buddy getting burned out after a week of hunting and a few horses coming up lame, its the situation I find myself in. Going in about 5 miles and 2000ft of elevation gain to get to where I want to camp. My 6.5 PRC is pretty heavy - I would guess around 12lbs (Christensen BA Tactical, NX8 4-32, and atlas CAL tall bipod). My 6 ARC was just brought as a back up gun to leave in the truck - howa mini heavy barrel with trijicon credo 2.5-15. I dont know what it weighs, but it is significantly lighter and since I didnt bring all my lightweight gear on this trip thinking horses would haul it all up, I am thinking I could save 5lbs or so going with the 6 ARC.

FWIW: I practice out to 1250 regularly, so am comfortable with longer shots (900-1000) on game if the wind is good. Both guns are 1.25 moa 10 round groups off a bench, so accuracy is good with both.

It depends on your muzzle velocity and elevation. I’d assume as long as you have at least 2600-2650 mv and at least 5k elevation it will be perfectly fine to 600.
