Elk Hunting with Suppressors?

I'm new to the forum and new to elk hunting but headed to CO this fall for either rifle or bow season depending on my work schedule. My rifle of choice is a 6.5x284 and I shoot suppressed. I was looking around and couldn't find the first thread on someone using one so I thought I'd ask. Any of y'all taking suppressors into the mountains after elk?

each state is going to be different but I believe you had best check regulations about suppressors for ANY venue of hunting

check the laws, but it doesn't really give you any advantage as far as hunting goes. i have a lot of suppressors but when I'm hiking anywhere very far they are not worth the weight or the added length. take earplugs if you're worried about your ears. the animals will react the same with or without the suppressor if they are very far away. the sonic crack is what they are hearing at their position and you're not getting rid of that.

one reason you might take it is that your load is worked up for shooting with suppressor and it doesn't shoot as good with out it. if that's the case than do what you need to do.

Suppressors are legal for all game animals in CO. The major advantage in LR hunting with suppressors is the ability to spot your own shots without the felt recoil and muzzle blast. Yes there's no way to get around the sonic crack but I can't imagine an elk would react the same to a suppressed vs not at 500-800 yds.

In the long range hunting and competition world Thunderbeast Arms pretty well dominates. Everyone will have their own opinion though.
