Elk caliber

OK the state says a 270 is minimum. Where is the 150 gr bullet stated? Personally I like the heavier for caliber on the bigger game, but that's me.
I'd just pick up a decent rifle in 308. You can buy ammo up or down in weight. Pretty universal. Or sell it after the hunt.
The 150grain was from a hunt listing I saw in a Texas listing, not OPs hunt. Sorry for the confusion!

I’m set up for suppressed but not really concerned about it for this rifle.
I see some models of 270 and 308 are as low as 649.00 so maybe euro will have some more options on July 4th.
I’m running a rokstok and Nxs 2.5-10 now on my 223 I plan to use on whatever I buy.

Drew a once in a lifetime Oklahoma elk tag.
24 years of points.
They have a restriction on 270 and larger.
I own 223,6.5 and putting together a 6cm now.
So I need to buy a new tikka just for some practice and this one hunt.
I have no plans to keep it so I want a combo with 500 yard capabilities with the lowest recoil possible.
I don’t reload so would be using factory ammo.
What combo of caliber, barrel length etc will be the easiest to get rid of?
I thought about buying a 308 and just keeping it but not sure I will ever use it with my 223 and 6cm.
.270 and larger
Running factory ammo
For one elk hunt
Tikka cartridge options
500yds

T3 308win running match/hunting ammo loaded with the 175,178,185s

Or a T3 7PRC. Either should be easy to sell after your hunt should you decide not to keep it.

7mm-08 if you are keeping it under 500 yards.

270 Winchester if you aren’t.

Match bullets with a ballistic tip. Don’t overthink it.
