Hi I'm trying to build an elk arrow. I was told it would be hard to impossible for me to bow hunt them because my draw length is 25"
Ibo 345 and dl 70. Can someone help me and shed light on this.

I would check the regs in the state you are planning to hunt. In Idaho the minimum arrow length is 24", so then you will know where to start with length. If you used a heavier GPI arrow in a .400 or .350 with a heavy insert and 125 gr broad head it should work. You might have to cut a .350 a little longer to soften the spine a bit.

With todays equipment you will do fine. Alone with keeping weight on the heavier side I would also add to look at a two blade head. One in our group has a shorter draw and to help penetration he started using Magnus Stingers. After seeing the results we all use them.

Totally agree with Greg . I was a competition shooter for years and l bunch of my buddies had short draws . A call to Easton would me a great idea . Those folks are super helpful. They help you line up with the perfect combination of weight and FOC. One thing I would definitely do is helix my vanes . With that shorter arrow I would want to stabilize it . I rather sacrifice a little arrow speed for a stable arrow especially with a broadhead. As for broadheads I would lean toward a 125 quality head . Broadheads are like beer . Everyone has there favorites lol . I'm a fan of Exodus and Slick Trick . But there area lots of good ones out there .

Most states the minimum draw weight ranges from 40 to 50lbs roughly. Elk are killed by women every year drawing low to mid 40s on weight with short draw lengths. You have an advantage over them that you are drawing 70lbs. A two blade, cut on contact head, with a heavy arrow will be far more effective than you realize. Hell, you'll still be shooting 75fps faster than my recurves, and they kill critters just fine. Heavy arrows, sharp heads, shoot them in the right spot.

No sweat for you.

Easton Axis 340 Cut to 25". 50 grain brass hit insert. Iron will 25 grain Collar. 100 Gr fixed blade broadhead. You can practice by removing the collar and using a 125 grain field point.

Estimated 454gr arrow going 260 fps.

Good fixed blade will kill anything in NA with that setup if you hit it right.

(Note: you're on the edge of being able to use a 400 spine, 340 is safely stiff with good specs)
