Electric chainsaw

I really like my ego. It came with a 16 bar but you can get an 18 bar. Cuts as good or better than my gas saws, but is quieter and no exhaust to choke on. I run only cooking oil as bar oil and have used it to quarter frozen deer.

My 12” Dewalt gets the job done great, but don’t get it unless you’re already deep into the dewalt ecosystem. It leaks bar oil pretty bad. This seems to be a common, maybe universal, issue with this model. But still worth it to me with a bunch of dewalt batteries around already.
The dewalt is the only one I have been around, we were inspecting a transmission line in the blue mountains and we had a little gas stihl, and the lineman had the dewalt, and it was actually pretty impressive

We had a surplus of dewalt 20 and 60w batteries because everything we used was dewalt. I have been considering getting an electric saw for my pickup, would be nice to not need gas in my pickup all winter, because after the first big blow here on the coast, I keep my little stihl in my pickup all winter

Little dewalt leaks or drains is more accurate but you can fix it with some gasket sealer. Bit of a chore but I think the saw cost me 70 bucks and I have plenty of batteries

I bought the Stihl professional grade one and it’s amazing. I wouldn’t use it for a big job but for something to keep in my side by side and do quick jobs it’s amazing. It cuts like a gas saw, on average size jobs and keeping in mind the bar, it is quick, quiet and lightweight. I did some jobs with it that would have exhausted me had I had a gas saw. Biggest drawback is the price of the battery, must have solid gold components.

Have an EGO and Milwaukee M18. Prefer the Milwaukee if it’s quick clean up (down tree). EGO will definitely run longer and is better for a larger job.

If you have 2-3 Forge M18 12ah batteries already I’d say go Milwaukee. Otherwise get a Stihl and have a real saw for all day.
