Every once in awhile I get asked 'how I clean the bore' - well today while cleaning the ULite I thought I would take the opportunity to show what I am doing.

Nothing 'earth shaking' but certainly easy and quick for me... And yet I know others probably have a method that is just as easy for them. This is just something that works for me and I have gotten pretty good at it...

One thing I fail to mention in the picture - The 'Weasel' has been lightly oiled with Montana X-Treme Bore Conditioner - a very little bit of it goes a very long way...

After this ready to go shoot again or store in the safe...

Thanks. What does the windex do? Does it bust up the crud ring of 777? Also, does windex work with Pyrodex?

Yep! very well on both accounts... I feel one of the real keys is the minor amount of Ammonia contained in real Windex. Ammonia is a natural metal stripper/cleaner + it aids in evaporation of moisture.

You want the Windex with ammonia. Works like magic on 777 residue.

Looks like sabotloader and I were typing at the same time. The stuff I found works best is the bottle of Windex that says Windex with ammonia on the front label.

GREAT POST!!!!!! Thanks for sharing. Might not be "earth-shattering" but so good to see a system that works.
I screwed up one of my first muzzleloaders because I simply didn't know how to clean it right.

Sabotloader , what do you use to get the plastic fouling from the sabots out ? None of the solvents seemed to do a good job so I've resorted to jb's bore paste to polish it off.

With the new polymers that MMP and Harvester are using there is next to no plastic fouling in the bores at all. So I really do not spend much time working at it.

When I did - the best way I found to get the plastic out was boiling water down the bore - that would cause the plastic to loose its hold on the bore and form flakes which could be easily brushed off. Also JB's Bore Paste will get it - but you do have to work at it a bit...

This is a video using JB's - not quite how I do it but the thought is correct...
