Looking at giving microdiameter arrows a try and found a deal on some 4mm FMJs. I’ve always steered clear of FMJs in general due to reports of bending after a lot of shooting. Anyone using the skinny FMJs? Finished weight with the 280 spine would be around 560 grains with a 55gr titanium half out and a little heavier if I went with an Ethics collar system.

I’ve been shooting them for 3 years. I’ve never had any issues with them bending. From a durability standpoint, my only issue has been with arrows used on game. I’ve taken 3 elk with them and all 3 arrows had to be thrown away. The tip gets damaged since it isn’t protected by an insert.

I have had great luck with them. I don’t think I’ve actually ever bend one. But have broken a few. But a carbon arrow would have broke as well. The 4mm are very accurate arrow with really tight tolerances.
I have found that the weak point is if using deep 6 inserts. As the front could get damaged.
To eliminate that I found using a collar like Iron will collar or using an outserts will save the arrow. On a really hard hit the outsert will be damaged but not the arrow

You should be fine with the outserts mentioned. I shoot the injexions with a iron will collar. Really helped the durability.

my son shoots outserts. I don’t like outserts since it’s one more spot to affect Broadhead alignment. Drawback is I can only shoot d6 Broadhead s, but there’s plenty of good ones for d6

Sounds good guys, thanks for the feedback! I’d probably avoid the Deep 6 heads and use an outsert. My only concern with the 280 spine is that with my 31 inch draw/73 pound bow I’d have to leave them fairly long to run a collar and risk being underspined. Right now my arrows are 29 CTC and are maybe 3/4 inch past the rest with a 260 HEXX and 200gr up front. I’m sure a 55gr Ti outsert and 125 head would be fine, but an Ethics setup may come in too heavy upfront for that long of an arrow.

I ran them out of a 83 pound Defiant. I think I was under spined as well. Especially after using the half out. I broke them whenever I'd smack the back of another shaft. I don't know why you'd bother with them. IMO the Valkyrie system is the only one that works for micros.
