Morning fellow Roksliders. The rules won't let me post a specific unit (which I completely agree with) but I was wondering how hard access will be for deer on the Eastern side of Wyoming? I was looking at a few of the leftover tags for a couple units(I know they are leftover for a reason) I've heard that Wyoming can be difficult navigating because private landowners can landlock some pieces of public off with gates? Would love to PM a couple guys and ask a few questions about the specific unit if possible, again I am not looking for spots. I love the adventure of figuring it out on my own, I am just wondering how difficult access will be and if there's a way to find these gates on a map etc? I'd rather not do my escouting and get there to keep running into gates. Thank you for your time.

If the public land touches even a foot of public road, you can access the land. If there's private land in-between, you'll like not have access to that public land.

Would a county road map show me which roads are public or not?

Yes, just look at the key. Some countries still list a private road on it. For example private road will be listed as P123 ST. and a different color, a public road will be a different color and just be listed as 124 ST.
That is where you'll find your answer, and anyone of those countries would happily field a few calls verifying any roads you have questions about too.

Good luck!

Thank you very much. This was what I was looking for!

I've not been there but have learned that some of these undersubscribed areas can still produce a quality hunt for guys not expecting the world record and not seeing any hunting pressure. You don't want to hunt where those guys go because they bring their A game every day.

OnX will be your friend out there. Good luck

Thank you. Hopefully we can find something, if not at least we will still have an adventure.

There’s a website that shows a certain type of public land with a filter that will tell you what land is accessible and what land isn’t.

Do some research and you’ll find it.
