^ another spin...

The reality is that having everything made in the USA is not happening without some catastrophic events. You can preach your plan for everyone to join in but that is not going to happen. So, accept the reality of the situation and then you can move forward. I loved the USA when we had a strong middle class that worked blue collar jobs....I actually lived that and in that era. We are not going back to that anytime soon. All I know is that we have traitors in charge that are lying to us every day and forwarding their agenda while they tell us stories and spin things. Meanwhile inflation of everything is thru the roof because of their policies...and they say 'eat cake'. With the covid in china now the way it is and the lockdowns over there we will see things just get worse and the folks in charge still have a plan to win the fall elections. Who knows what they will do with that result in mind...

The E-15 is just a political ploy and a very bad thing in the long run...we need to go back to strong domestic production and that will not happen.

^ that is the short story.

This is true for E-85 and that's why I don't own any flex fuel vehicles. E-85 is a farce.

For E-15 and E-10 I don't notice any mileage difference in my vehicles vs. straight 87. It's also about $.40 cheaper than straight 87.
It's only cheaper because it's heavily subsidized. It takes more energy to produce 1 gallon of ethanol than it contains. That energy has to come from somewhere, gasoline/diesel/electricity in the process of making it. If it were not so heavily subsidized, this would of course make it a lot more expensive, and no one would buy more expensive gasoline that's less efficient and wrecks a lot of small engines.

E10 is about 97% as energy dense as E0. The average consumer won't notice that... 6 miles less to the tank?

I'm glad we don't have ethanol fuel in my state. But it's also one of the reasons our highest octane at the pump is 90. Which is rather annoying. But no where near as annoying as having ethanol destroy every engine, except for my truck, that I own. None of those engines have cats, so if they need 93 or more, I can always add a little blue gasoline to boost the octane.

Here's a video on why ethanol is bad. Even for the environment. The source is not anti-green, at all.

I would rather increase demand for corn that is grown domestically as a long term hedge to the voliatility of foreign oil markets. You're going to pay more for everything in the short term, and we gotta focus on the long game or we'll be right back where we are now the next time there is a war in the middle east or elsewhere that adds risk to oil imports.
I think you’re missing the entirety of the problem. Corn has and should not have anything to do with gasoline. It does nothing for the environment.
Inhibiting domestic oil production is the obvious problem.
It sounds like you’ve completely drank the koolaid on this.

Lock downs in china is scary. They’ve been planting the seeds for another lockdown in the USA here lately.
Mandatory lockdowns here coupled with planned famine/food rationing = dire straits

Corn prices go up leading to soybeans prices going up lead to wheat prices going up (even more!) leads to rice prices going up. Sweet.

I'm not spinning anything. I simply told you what I am doing personally, so I will agree to disagree and you can keep buying products from wherever you choose, and I will continue to my best supporting USA made whenever possible.

My Toyota pickup gets 30% less mileage with the ethanol crap fuel. So the ethanol gas has to be at least 30% less to break even. But then there's the longer term effects of what the ethanol does to my 33 year old engine and parts. So I just choose to pay more and get better gas.

Oh ya, if you're not running modern EFI, the ethanol gets terrible fuel economy. Especially a carb. The mixture is just way off.

I've lived in Iowa my entire life @JJJ, and I assure you there is no Kool Aid being drunk on this end. I also don't need to watch a video on the evils or economics of ethanol. I also fully understand the welfare, I mean subsidy, system that is in place for ag producers.

It's unlikely that this country will return to the good old days of maxxed out oil production. So there needs to be a compromise, and if that means we can increase biofuels production to reduce dependence on foreign oil we should do it. I have never stated nor do I believe that ethanol and biodiesel are better for the environment. Often its to the contrary. However, I'd still rather burn ethanol than oil imported from Mexico, Venezuela, Russia, or the Middle East.

I'm not sure about the 30% less statement, but will take your word for it. I definitely wouldn't put E10 or E15 in a vehicle older than the year 2000. I don't put it in my '94 F250 either.

I could care less about carbon emissions. My point is why wouldn't we want to use USA made ethanol and biodiesel and USA drilled oil vs. buying from commies and dictators around the world?

You missed the point that he is anti American fuel period!

But now his policies are a crisis coming up to the midterm election and he is trying to pull a fast one by drawing down the strategic reserves by about 1/2 which means he is going to tax us even more to replace it. The corn literally means nothing other than frankly more wear and tear on our gas powered engines either vehicles or small engine tools.

He needs to stop the BS and reverse his anti American policy and encourage us to be energy independent again. He won’t and that is why the left is going to lose handily in the fall.

I can't wrap my head around using food to make fuel when we have oil and gas.
If'n we use up da corn for fuel, we wont have enough ta feed all them there cows. Now we gots to reduce heads which means we's reducin farts and that helps the climate dontcha know. Before you knows it, they will have us ranchin electric cows with no emissions. I mean they done figgered out how ta git milk from an oat and a almond, dont tell me they cant figger a way for us'ns to be running emission free cattle.

Because ethanol is energy negative meaning it takes more actual fuel from oil to produce than ethanol it creates. Ethanol adds to energy dependence on other countries

It's almost like the corn lobby is powerful and has sway over politicians, biden will appease them on this setting precident than any time oil prices go up we will kick money back to the corn lobbyist
