I've been looking for drop camps in CO as well. Came across a website called Outfitter Intel that had some helpful search filters including the ability to search specifically for drop camps instead of fully guided.

Scrolled through the outfitter intel website. It’s missing a bunch of outfitters that I know operate just in our area. Not what I would consider a good recommendation really. Most of the outfitters that I know that are reputable local to me aren’t listed. There’s a few on there that I wouldn’t trust to pack my sleeping bag in.

I was searching for a guide or drop camp for a trip to book for my dads 60th birthday in CO. Became overwhelmed with the amount of info scattered across the web. So my buddy and I are creating a single source to be a useful reference for folks. Doing my best to track down everyone I can, but other than https://coloradooutfitters.org/ there isn't a great repository for this stuff.

Do these drop camp outfitters drop you in designated areas or can you tell them exactly where you want dropped off(assuming horses can make it)

Typically a drop camp is the outfitters camp it’s set in a specified location, most outfitters cannot move their camps to where you want.

If you want the “spike camp or gear packing option” that would be your gear and camp into your spot. Although most outfitters don’t really like doing these as much or have stipulations as to where you can go, when and relative to their other camps.

Most outfitters offer pack service, depending upon availability of horses. Most packers I know pretty busy that time of year, but there is always some knucklehead on horseback willing to take an extra trip on any given day. I used to be that guy and some days it sucked!
